I don't,that's why I asked,never seen you before,never heard of you!
You seem angry and pent up,why is that?
No I'm happy, and I'm and just saying what millions are thinking.
At least I'm true to my word, not like the PC bandwagoners on here.....

But thanks for asking......

Obfuscation.
What is your position and why, that's what I asked?
As it stands the "yes" vote makes up a very clear majority,a majority I might add,any political party would be over exuberant about having.
Well over a two third majority!!
How does marriage equality effect your day to day life?,because personally it effects many of my gay friends as they feel this very very deeply, every ******* day!

So we could have had the plebiscite months ago and it would already be law by now? Seems pretty mean for politicians to have held that up for purely political purposes.

The only people who push this narrative are those opposed to ssm in the first place. Most of the gay community have been opposed to a plebiscite/survey since it was first mooted.

Better to have nothing and hang on for political reasons than get a result. I understand.

Cant have such a law being changed while Conservatives are in power. Far better to hold off and get the Labor and Greens to pass it.

Bollocks, it has nothing to do with politics. The Gillard government was slammed for it's failure to pass ssm, and the Liberal party would be lauded if they passed it. This is not a party political issue.

So why not have the Plebiscite then? It would be run exactly the same way as the Irish did it, but the result would then be used by Parliament rather than the result itself be binding.

I dont recall any great anarchy happening in Ireland and they are far more religiously conservative than we are.

Its just bullshit excuses. If serious, it would have happened by now. So the only possible explanation is Labor and the Greens using it for political reasons.

Besides, wouldnt you enjoy the vote being 60% or 65% 'Yes' then watch as the Liberals tear themselves apart?

Because it's an unnecessary waste of money. The High Court has said it's not needed, and the only people who really support it are those who don't support ssm in the first place.
Afraid 'yes' will lose? Or get less than 60%?

That's the real reason you're against it.

I don't care whether yes or no gets up, this whole thing is about as useful as a Newspoll, and changes nothing. It's just delaying the inevitable.
It's pissing money up against the wall so a few conservative neanderthals can kick the can down the road.

An utter disgrace.

Why not just save all that money then, and do the only bit (the parliamentary vote) that has to be done? I mean, we've established emphatically in this thread that there is no reason as to why SSM should not happen, so let's just do it without empowering bigotry via a survey.

So you are afraid of losing. Got it.
If a no vote happens we wait for a year or so until the Liberal Party has it's arse handed to it at the next election, and an ALP government legislates for it within 100 days. As I said, delaying the inevitable.

But democracy Sherb. Is not the right to judge gay people's relationships the most pressing issue in your life right now?
I thought the point of having a gay relationship is that there are no strings attached. It's impossible for one partner to impregnate the other so there is no residual after break-up.

If the 'No' vote happens it will show underlying conservative support which could stop Weasel Bill from taking the reigns.

Don't count your chickens yet Gough.
