He actually showed something against Adelaide...roving his own tap and kicking it to Ottens...backing back for a brave mark. The commentators were saying he was the only one who WAS showing heart!

To be honest, I hope he does well with Richmond, he was always very talented, and if he finds his confidence he will be a goood player for several more years.

I think the lack of 'heart' he was accused of in Adelaide was really a lack of confidence borne of his continual injuries and knowledge he wouldn't be able to break up Biglands and Clarke unless they were injured.

My oh my...it's the night for underperforming ruckmen!

Clarkey has hustled more than I've seen him in ages...taken a few MARKS and even a couple of GOALS!

Things have never seemed stranger!

You know you have hit rock bottom when this is the case

OTOH, Best game I have seen Clarke played. I am still dirty that he wasn't payed that mark in the goalsquare in the 1st quarter.

Hudson's couple of marks in the 3rd quarter were fantastic:D

I've bagged Marsh on occassions, mainly when he drops marks in finals. He's far from my favourite player.

To be fair - he was beaten in the tap outs on most occassions. Around the ground he did a couple of nice things as spindoctor mentioned. Hardly their worst.

There are guys at the Tiges who have been there longer with bigger reps and bigger paychecks than BM that did a lot less.

FFS!! You are joking, I hope.

You thought Hentschel was a negative and this proven dud a positive???

No further comment required!!

At least they were out there and have done things for the club before tonight. Ben Marsh was tucked up in his jacket for the majority of the second half... he's pants.

I felt sorry for him. I caught the end of the game on TV and they went to the Richmond rooms after the game and he was looking pretty sad.

I know its just a game of footy but there are real people behind the faces with real feelings. He tried hard during the game but the Tigers just are playing without any confidence. They have alot of doubt in themselves and in each-other and they must be doing it tough.

... who collect real wages which are generated largely from real members/supporters who pay real money to watch them play.

It's their profession for heaven's sake and Mr. Marsh has been on the AFL gravy train for how many seasons now?!

I know I wouldn't mind a bare minimum of $38k a year for doing nowt except keep fit and kick a footy around.

Ben Marsh only had six touches for the game, less than our backup ruckman.
To go along with 9 hitouts and 4 free kicks against.

Compared to hudson's 10 touches, 3 marks (2 of them I thought were stong grabs including a one hander) and 6 hitouts.

Ben Hudson is miles better than Marsh thank you very much.;) :) :D

It is much more than just a career, all sports are. He is just an average footballer and average footballer do not make enough from football from a very limited career lifespan to live off football. Most play the game because they love it and would play it even if there was no money in it as they did in the past.

Besides, there are less than 700 AFL footballers out of a country of 20 million people. That is 0.0035% of the population and what they make is a joke. The fact I earn more than half of those players with no exceptional skill in any field highlights just how sad it is.

Any other profession where you would represent such a small proportion of the population would be a job paying 100x more than football and would be a life-long career. Most footballers have less than 10 years to make any money out of it, most average footballers have probably 5 good years if that.

If you had ever played the game at all at any level you would know there is alot of emotion involved, even at an amateur levels.

Some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves and your bias.

The kind of invective you heap on Ben Marsh is entirely undeserved. If you'd been in the completely stuffed situation he'd been in for such a long time, I doubt you'd have much confidence either.

Always knew "our" Ben had it in him.;)

Just so glad we have Hudson in the squad.

Absolute rubbish, spinny.

It's not a bias - it's a well-deserved opinion based on his career of non-achievement.

That's supported by the fact that the club delisted him even when it had no other options at that stage.

If you think he did well last night, based on his 6 possessions, then you're easily pleased.

It was a typical effort from a proven dud.

My heart bleeds.

He has a Premiership Medal, the likes of Ablett and Lockett don't - and he's still on an AFL list - I reckon he's doing 'alright'.
