Move along nothing to see here. Just a minor disagreement in the grand scheme of the universe.

One thumping? No we aren't shit we have a ton of talent but last night was shit. We just have too many passengers as well, it's pretty simple really to be a great side you can't afford more than one or two passengers. And that is being generous.

One bad game does not make a player crap ..time you got over your Nick Stevens obsession and moved on .

Not obsessed at all, I think he is a good ordinary player not the elite crap I hear some Carlton fans say.

So, because a player is good but not an elite, we should trade them?

Stevo frustrates because he demonstrates his how much talent he actually has andmwins games off his own boot a few occasions a year but gets tagged out of games way too easily (we hear all too often that learning to deal with the tag is a pre-requisite of any elite mid, and that the only way to deal with a tag is gut running all day, on face value that seems to indicate lack of work ethic), as vice captain of our club he can't afford to go missing so much in so many games. I'd like to attribute some of it to coming back from potentially career ending surgery and hope that he becomes a more consistent performer in '09 with another pre-season under his belt.

He is by no means untouchable and if a good enough trade were offered he'd be gone, but his age will probably stop this from happening and keep him safe on our list.

and EBIAC if you're going insist on throwing around the word Nazi like its harmless footy banter at least avoid using it in threads where your questioning of people's right to have opinions that differ from yours is so reminisce of their supremacist 'values'.

Totally agree Alpha.

Soft, pea hearted player who only gets going when we are up and running and can run past, take the handballs and finish off the work done by others.

No accountability.

Never forget the game this year when he played his best game.
Round 14 against Richmond.
Juddy didn't play and Nick had ten tackles and everyone said he played a great captains game.

Why does it take a game when juddy doesn't play for him to come out and play hard and do the team things. The reason is because he has to lead from the front. And he never did that in any other game this year with his hardness. He is one of the leaders and should be setting the example every week. Not just when he tosses a bloody coin.
His best effort other than that game was two efforts of five tackles. He plays hard and does the team things when it suits him and only then.
As far as I'm concerned we should look for a suitable trade.

Stevens has so much talent but he has two flaws:

1. HE is soft and will not put his head over it
2. When the chips are down he refuses to work 2 ways.

Overall I think that he has a tendency to play for himself and should not be considered in your best midfield combination given the rise and rise of Murphy, Gibbs and Russel etc

Yep. agree :thumbsu:

he is soft, and it pisses me off.

don't know if he's soft, but he might not be fit in an athletic sense. that's the way plenty of players break their tag, run, run, run. there was the question mark over his fitness earlier in the year, few murmurs about pudginess.

BM, he's not crap at all. Stevens is far from a crap player, he's very talented and skilled. The thing that really annoys me about him is that he just seems 'soft' at times. And when you see our younger kids, like Grigg, Gibbs, Murph etc going for the hard ball, and they're just 19, 20 year olds, and you see one of our main leaders not doing it, it just gets abig annoying.

No one is doubting Steven's talent, he's one of the best players in our team, it's just the hard ball factor that really annoys me.

It's not good enough. Marc Murphy got tagged something cronic last year, and look at how he dealt with it. Completely different league to Stevens. :thumbsd:

I didn't say it was good enough, quite the opposite actually

It is scary how a so called star senior player has been overtaken by kids.

BY, posters like you are the industrial-strength glue that keeps this place interesting and largely grounded in some sort of sense. I hate pissing in people's pockets and this doesn't mean we're engaged or anything - just thought credit where it's due. Hats off, son. :thumbsu:

Haha, that's rich. You're telling me to deal with it, yet you're challenging my opinion?

As I said, Nazi.

80 point loss or not, I am mighty proud of my Blueys. Got a problem? F*ck off.

Perhaps it is you who should **** Off.....:thumbsd:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion,

Calling someone a Nazi because you disagree with it.....is just moronic.

What makes this site interesting is the debate and difference in opinion on topics (Minus the personal abuse).:thumbsu:

I'm starting to think EB doesn't know the history behind the WWII.

Trading pick #6 and Stevens for Kerr hardly qualifies for an opinion, it's just utter bullsh*t.

Nazi.

So not cool Eddie.

You could have had a very safe bet that Stevo would have had a shocker last night. Seems to always back up a brilliant game (like last week) with a game like last night. Almost always. Don't know if he gets complacent after a great game and just thinks it will happen or what, but it has to change.
