See what happens when you give a kid whose hungry a game?

Onya Marty and your 2 partners in crime .

Okay, game not over yet, but this is great to watch.

Downside - Bowden is not impressing his future club - within 5 mins - 3 kicks - 3 turnovers.

I cannot fault this performance tonight except for maybe not picking another kid to join the fun - Dunc is the only downside - hasn't had much senior ground time this year would be his only excuse.

The pressure of the Tiges all night has been wonderful - where has it been all year - but that's negative. They did it tonight when the chips were down and I'm so very proud of them.

And I'm proud of the coaching team to have the guts to bring on these young kids - I am not a cynic and choose to believe they did to improve the football team and not appease supporters - cryptic remark but you know what i mean - some people just love to be negative.

Go Tiges

And i backed them over 40 points and won a Tattslotto ticket.

What a night.

Great stuff heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheehheehehehehehe

I haven't seen the game yet but tonights showing by McGrath begs the question - Why hasn't he been given a chance before tonight? I'm yet to lay on eyes on the kid but from what people have said on this board he has something special - it just seems Danny is incredibly reluctant to use these young fellas.

Hope tonight was Marty's equivalent to Cogs game against Port last year.

Shiit, forgot Richo and Andy - fantastic performance.

Might have another cab sav - excuse me folks, i've had a few lol.

Cheers

Exactly Foxtrot, why haven't they?

Glad they're doing for the end of the season - the win won't help us in the draft - but does a lot for morale. Still lots of deadwood to get rid of - fantastic for Marty and for the club, because our goalkickers tonight were our future.

Holland, Rodan, Krak, Johnston, Richo, Tivvas, Bowden - all our brightlights with a question mark on a couple.
\
Enjoy the replay - you will really love it.

Okay, i'm getting carried away but we have needed something like this - postives can't hurt - only people who keep on bringing this club down for their own selfish reasons.

Big deal! Another meaningless end of season win.
McGrath should of been thrown in the deep end last year and Schulz, should of played at least 10 games by now. Another reason why our pathetic coach is just not up to it. He should of been making these moves weeks ago.

Diggler

Diggler, you won't be happy until this club is out of existence will you? Who do you really support? Is it Collingwood? Who? I am really curious, cos' you don't support the Tigers.

This win will probably mean nothing at all - lose a position in the draft maybe - but does a hell of a lot for morale around a club that is at its lowest point, with the lowest of supporters like you who they rely on.

If you do support the Tiges, do something positive for a change will you - and give them a week's grace from your vitriole.

I know i'm asking to get a mouthful - but i really don't care. I do want this club to succeed - and yes i'm totally inebbriated, but not enough to write this - and i really do want them to succeed. What about you?

After three rising star nominations last year it was looking like we would go through without any this year but Marty would have to be a huge chance five almost six on debut (i'm assuming he's eligible).

How dangerous did we look up forward when Krak, McGrath and Rodan were all playing out of the goal square.

Schulz also showed us some class with his left foot snap, great skills for a big fellow.

simple fox marty,s attitude stunk bigtime.turning up late for training etc.the past 4 weeks he has pulled his head in.

cheers!

Ahh it seems so long ago when Sir Richo had the big dummy spit and found himself playing at Cramer Street. I took the kids down to support their hero and pointed out this kid of our future. If you could have seen the gleam in my rug rats faces last night when he came on, it was bigger than the one on Rodans face after kicking a goal. 2 years they have had his autograph asking when will he play. All night was ooh ahhh Marty McGrath, not since Sir Francis himself strode on the feild wearing #30 has that number given this ole bugga such pleasure.
All is forgiven we love you Danny. :p

That's a reasonable explanation - Regardless I do hope it gives Danny the encouragement to throw the young players in the deep end a bit more often especially if the senior players aren't doing enough and especially especially if we have older guys who have had plenty of chances not doing anything.

McGrath dazzles first-up

Aside from breaking their eight-match losing streak with a crushing 60-point victory over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night at Telstra Dome, the biggest highlight for the Tigers was the exciting debut of Martin McGrath.

The 19-year-old made a stunning start to his AFL career when he booted five goals – including three in the third quarter.

Richmond coach Danny Frawley was impressed with McGrath’s entrance into the big league.

“He has taken a while. It’s been a really rocky road for Marty. He came over 18 months ago and he’s had to work a hell of a lot harder than most people to get where he was to tonight,” Frawley said in his post-match media conference.

“You just can’t hand out league games, so his form over the last two weeks and his preparation over the last six weeks has been a hell of a lot better than what I would’ve liked.”

“Maybe the preparation before that was just a youngster coming to terms with league football, but we always knew he had the ability, so we’ve just got to make sure we can support Marty as much as we can and keep a lid on his form.”

“He’s obviously going to get a little bit more heat than he got out there tonight. It was really pleasing. He’s a real excitement machine.”

“We’ve always known he’s had the talent, but his preparation has been somewhat (disappointing)…most youngsters take a while to work out how hard it is to play league football.”

When pressed on what part of McGrath’s preparation was lacking, Frawley was guarded.

“I’m not going (to divulge that information). Just his preparation as far as preparing to play AFL football (was not up to scratch),” Frawley said.

“But we won’t be talking about the negatives with him. As I said, he’s always had the ability.”

“We’ve just got to make sure that we keep working hard on all the little things that make league players.”

The club would not allow the media to speak to the talented youngster after the match, a stand that Frawley defended.

“He’s just a youngster. He’s got his whole family over here. He’s just 19 years of age,” Frawley said.

“We just want to make sure we can encourage Marty to have a really good game next week in front of his family.”

“There’s going to be a hell of a lot more pressure on him next week and that was just the thought process on that – to make sure we can get somewhere near the form (we want) from a youngster such as that.”

oh ah Marty Mcgrath.

The 3 small forwards and Ben Holland up forward looked absolutely explosive. Great win by the boys - very proud.

Good to see some hard footy for once. Richo lead the way. He was brilliant wasnt he. The smothers and tackles were great to watch. Pitty I couldnt go though :(

Go Tiges!

Can't believe this is the same Ben Holland that could catch a cold at CHF for 4 years. Good solid marks for three weeks in a row now. Crumbers that crumb...outstanding. Something for the future.

Diggles

You crack me up lol.

I'm sober today and i'm still excited about the Tiges win on Saturday. Don't worry, I'm sure their winning streak will come to an end soon and you can start bagging them once again - not that you've ever stopped - win, lose or draw.
