Interesting news tonight was that Maldon have been stripped of their points and percentage from the Rovers game earlier in the year. This was due to the fact that Pat Cummins played Bendigo Bombers twos in the morning and then flew across to burra and played for Maldon as well which is obviously a no no!

Has pretty much ended Maldons season!

Good. They deserve that. A fairly hefty fine I hear too.

I here ex maldon assistant coach got the sack from Trentham A coles wood be on maldons wish list
Why did he get the ass??? Did as good a job as anyone else would have I would of thought. Doubt he will be on Maldons wish list as he was only playing 2s there when he was there anyway.

This weeks games are pretty straight forward:

Talbot v Maldon
Dunolly v Carisbrook
Royal Park v Avoca
Trentham v Newstead
Harcourt v Maryborough Rovers

Look for 40+ goals from the brook game, dunolly lucky to have a senior side, forfiet apparantly an option. Talbot, Avoca, Newstead and Harcourt should/will win and there wont be a repeat of bushy beating Avoca again, not 1 week before finals.

As for adam coles, he seemed alright on the field didnt meet him off it, there were worse players on the field who needed the ass more than him. At least they are competetive though.

hey guys. good luck in the finals everyone. think carisbrook might have the wood over avoca considering there soft past. They dont have enough hardness to match it with brook. Hopefully pilgrirm can produce the $400 a match game that he should but i doubt it. I hear they are very disappointed with his efforts on the field considering he came from a vfl team. makes u think anyone can make it.
Might pay to stick to umpiring steve . Best of luck to you for the final series anyway ,maybe you will get to umpire Avoca next week, and give pilgs a chance to impress or prove you right, with your magical umpiring skills .And prehaps give us a chance to show you just how soft we are!

Interesting to see that if the rovers/maldon hadn't been reversed maldon would of made the finals by percentage:eek:
Yeah Maldon would be filthy but realistically they aren't a good enough side to be in there anyway. They knew the rules and should not have broken them.

Saturday Qualifying Finals

Avoca v Brook - Seniors
Harcourt v Trentham - Ressys

Can't see Avoca winning a final but then again 'brook looking in pretty bad form so could go either way. Harcourt should have enough depth to beat Trentham.

Sunday Elimination Finals

Talbot v Rovers

Talbot should win both games and make rover's last two years in the finals a misery. If both their teams loose and get eliminated, the club will have won only 1 final out of 9 since '06. Talbot to be too strong for Rovers, Pollock to kick a few in the ressies.

Harcourt will smash Trentham in the 2s.... Dont think they are that good. I reckon Avoca will beat Brook.... As u say Brook are way out of form!

Talbot should win both games on Sunday....

on the outskrts of mborough isnt it rich isnt it on the road to talbot i hve an idea hedges oval is bushys home ground but i mite be rong

yeah thats right zankster. i am seriously looking forward to saturday's game between brook and avoca, could go either way IMO, as both sides love to run and carry the ball. On form yes carisbrook may not have had the best preperation but on there day they are certainly good enough to roll anyone, avoca on the other hand started the season off on fire, but the second half of the season has shown mixed results. The two most important players that could shape the result will be chipper for brook and coghlan for avoca, on there days they are unstoppable and will cause opposition coaches many headaches.

should be a fantastic game on the wide open spaces at hedges with the result going either way within 2 goals. too closely mayched IMO to pick a winner

Saturday is huge. Brook may be down on form but finals experience is in their favour. Avoca are travelling a little better but finals experience is significantly less.

Who's the big ground going to suit better?

Both sides are running sides but I reckon it might suit Brook to be honest! Avoca still have plenty of inexperience in their side and guys like Fieldy and Ross are not getting any quicker!

I'm a bit concerned about the hardness of the ground at the Hedges oval as many of the players pulled up with scratches and grazes from Saturday's game. The cricket pitch area is particularly hard and the league secretary has notified me that they are unable to water the ground due to water restrictions. Micky Noonan told me after the game that the ground was so hard that he wished he had played in runners. Most of the rotations off the bench on Saturday were made to protect the players feet as many players were bordering on having blisters develop on the soles of their feet.
As far as the game goes - the score for the season is one all. Avoca will give it its best shot. The players have put in the hard yards during the season and will go into the game with a full list to pick from.

Everyone will be a bit wiser about 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.

this game will be one of many rippers through out the finals series IMO, should be one of the most evenly contested finals series In MCDFL hisrtory........yes the ground may be hard at hedges but the grounds have been hard all season and both teams will be effected evenly, should be a massive crowd there on saturday and lets hope there are huge numbers for the whole finals series...

REFERRING back to page 210 isn't Hedges the home ground of Maryborough Rovers, not the Bushies of Royal Park ?? I thought the Bushies played at Jubilee Oval.
That said, I'm going for Carisbrook and Talbot in the 2 main games.
And no, Shermo, I'm not on the bandwagon. Just trying to tip winners.
BTW, who's into posting likely winners in the MCDFL finals in the Magoos. The Ones are the teams which matter.
