Newstead will more than likely lose Ian Garsed who has moved to Melbourne this year, along with Danny Christmas who is confirmed as leaving.

Ramsey to stay apparently.

My word Sherman. Blokes are generally quite forthcoming with information when they are charged up.

Another interesting point of note that I have heard around the traps of late is that the league will be voting next meeting as to whether the Senior Games will be shortened. At the moment we play 25 minutes plus time on and they are looking at changing it to 20 plus time on to be in line with the AFL. I dont think its such a bad idea as some senior games seem to drag on forever.

Talbot had a couple of signings at training the other night. Coach Wills obviously finally got around to putting pen to paper and young Darren Hansen who spent a year playing 18s at Maryborough. Didn't get many opportunities in there and I reckon with some confidence will be a handy depth senior player and in years to come should go alright. Always good to get boys back that played juniors at the club.

A couple more signings have occurred but there is going to be a delay in submitting those for various reasons.

i think that rule change in relation to the time will be a good one rich, as u mentioned some games can seem to drag on a bit, especially for teams coping a hiding as quarters can go upto 30 min each.

Got a chance to stop by at Carisbrooks ground yesterday arvo and it is looking very nice. Some patchy areas on the boundary line but generally it is green and lush. No problems there at all. Be nice to train on!

i hear maryborough got a terential down poor last night!!!!!!, that rain surely must be good for the grounds and should soften them up/green them up a little. i am persuming that the surrounding districs got it aswell????
i know in ballarat we had a bit of rain but from all reports no where near maryborough;s down poor.

The clouds sort of went around Talbot so think Maryborough copped the brunt of that. Talbot got a decent shower still though but nothing major. Apparently the ANZ bank roof caved in so it must have been pretty heavy in the Burra! Ground at Talbot was still wet this morning so it would have been a valuable shower for the oval.

yeah i was informed that ppl were basically rained in, the roads were flooded and the drain at princess park was flooded with water only inches from the top..... well apparently anyway ....that may be over exagerating but if true definately one hell of a down poor.

just need a couple of follow up rains now

AND just to think radio blokes tonite reported from Mighty Max Martin that quite a few MCDFL grounds struggling.
Princes Park was one oval quoted as being only fair. Maybe that rain Shermo and Co. have mentioned came after Max spoke to Bgo radio grounds reporter.
Surely Harcourt would be tip-top after a huge deluge just a few days back.

Princes Park is still in just average condition Jock so Maxy probably not too far off the mark. Needs a few more showers to get it into shape. That rain will help. About half the grounds in the MCDFL are good to go at this stage with most others tipped to be right come round 1 with bore water and hopefully a few more showers.

This talk of the grounds/rain is getting boring to say the very least. Are we that **********ing soft that we only play on lush grounds? I'm pretty sure our fathers and grandfathers played on worse.

It's time to harden the ********** up and concetrate on the things we really want to hear about.

1. Recruits
2. Fall outs at clubs
3. Bull$hit rumours that start at the Flag at 2am on a Sunday morning.

The grounds are hard but in my opinion they are no worse than in recent years. Granted Princes Park and Rovers are worse than previous years but half the $hitty grounds around this region almost died and dried out every year. This year won't be any different to last year.

Let's not focus on the negative in here as it is boring me to freakin tears.

It will bore you more Thoroughbred when you are standing around on Saturday not being able to play football - or playing 20 minute halves so grounds can be shared. The water situation is the worst it has ever been and rain is the only saving grace.

It's all well and good to use recycled water, but when people put in greywater systems, tanks etc. It doesn't leave much to run back down the pipes and then onto the oval, hence Princes Park's average condition.

It's a big issue and warrants discussion in my opinion.

Oh yeah, forgot to add that the kennel is in tip top condition. Lush green coverage over most of the ground. A little rough in patches around the boundary but all in all should be good to go come round 1.

You're right. Talking about it will make it rain or one of us in here might come up with a new water management system so that we can all play footy.

Rich/Sherman, How much longer will you blokes and Natte keep training together? Any further news on the recruiting front?
i think tue night was the last official session, as talbot goes back to tue /thu of next week, although natte have left the door open for anyone to train with them if unable to make it to talbot..

not alot more news on the recruitment front shamui, although there was a couple of younger doggies running around at training tue night..pretty sure they were just in it for the run though...have heard news of some more signings at talbot or suspected signings but they are not open for discussion as of yet on the forum.

hey guyz was just looking around the League and was wondering hows things going?

i see there a few players leaving Creek such as Travis Nolan to Kangaroo Flat ,Clinton Mcleod to maldon.

that would hurt creek abit to lose such players as them if i can remember back watching Creek V carisbrook at carisbrook in 05 in the rain and mud they both topped off a great game togather clearly outta there hole side despite the result been 231 to 30.

anyone heard much more about the two ( Trav and Clinton ) and how there going? and whats there story?

also does anyone remember them?

Yeah I think there will be one more night this Tuesday but then Talbot moves back to Tuesday and Thursday at Talbot so that will be the end of that. However it allows Ballarat guys an alternative run if they cant make it up and has been good to mix with another club I think. A very valuable exercise IMO.

Spoke to a Harcourt person in Bendigo this week and contrary to what was reported earlier in this thread, they believe that Michael? Blake will be staying at Harcourt. They were not aware of anyone leaving at this stage.

In responce to Thoroughbred etc, whilst Talbots oval is currently not yet playable it always comes up each year and we have a water supply which will be fully utilised about a month out before the season to get it right. I dont think MCDFL is in as much trouble as Bendigo etc to be honest.
