Sam Brown has put in a clearance to Sth W'bool. Will be a loss of a good young player to the club but cant really expect him to travel back. The impression I have is that he may come back during the season but we'll wait and see. Best of luck to the young kid anyway.

Some people just need their egos massaged. I don't think David Forde would leave Bushy this late in his career, but probably likes to feel wanted.
I think it's a credit to the guy for staying. He only has 2 games to reach his 100 for Royal Park.

Coincedently, we play Bushy next Tuesday night in the Night Series so we will get a good idea of where the 2 teams are at.

Who is competing in the Night Series and will this be played at Princes Park?

Wayne Buchell will give the Dons a lift this year, back at his old club.
Quite a few years experience at the Maine and Eagleburra in the BFL.
Still get plenty of kicks running off the HB line, you would think.

burchell played mainly in the forward line when he was at maldon, so i would pesume that is where he would resume this season, as thye will need another athletic forward to cover the loss of ladiges

very ordinary ground. To small, sh*t surface and i would imagine at this time of year it would be hard as a rock.
i knew that, played on it before but apparently one of the best in the comp at the moment due to bore water and irrigation installed last year
Does anybody know what it is like now.

Not sure what it is like at the moment mate but I would be very surprised if it was the best in the comp. I know a few clubs have held off on watering grounds too much at the moment so they can have them in tip-top shape for round 1, I guess that is what everyone is aiming for...

yep thats right shamui, talbot has just started pumping water into the dam now from there bore and hopefully it will be ready to go by round 1.,.....agree that even though maldons ground might be green , its still way too small, uneven and clumpy.
would like to c them upgrade there visitors change rooms aswell.....even some carpet would help

The Avoca boys look real positive this year they had 45 at training last night real good feeling around the club :)

45 hey, thats very impressive #'s , how long have avoca been training together for now??, often new coaching, brings a great deal of excitement to the club and varitey on the track which is important.

one thing i have always noticed with avoca though is that they have alot of locals that play for them, would that be why numbers are so good at training?

Been going for around 6 weeks now mate. Had enough numbers at training to have our first hit out. I think we have managed to retain the full list from last year prob apart from Nick Robbo and maybe Ash Robbo. Also been good on the recruiting front with some good new players as well as bringing back some past players.

That is what a bottom half of the ladder needs to do to make the 5.

Hello gents

The Tibbinator is an outsider looking in, but I have heard a whisper about former Golden Square hardman Bruce Hughes, who may be in the running for coaching gig in the MCFL. Late 30's in age, but could still provide good onfield support to surrounding youngsters.

I'm not sure of any clubs that are still yet to sign a coach?? Can you give a little more info Tibbinator? Being from Golden Square would it be fair to assume he could be linked to Harcourt/Maldon/Newstead?

Saw this on another thread and thought it would be interesting. Can each person affiliated with an MCDFL club post their top 3 preseason flyers?

Rich/Sherman, I reckon I've got you two pegged so don't bother putting yourselves in:rolleyes:

ditto to u to shamui....got u worked out.

well as i only been to 1 talbot training session this year is hard for me to comment, but have been participating in the natte trainings at vic park and lake runs earlier so got a rough idea of where ppl are at.

gav webber would have to be the fittest guy at talbot , does a hell of a lot of riding , running and swimming and will be devastating this year of the half back line /midfield IMO.

nathan bond is another one who works very hard on his fitness, and is generally a solid contributor in pre season.

i do know that the ballarat boys have done alot of work and have been for a fair while now, so there fitness base is really good ATM, and are probably alot further ahead than the rest of the pack.

was informed tuesday night that robert ' the great' pollock has lost 20kg as is looking fit and rearing to go in 07. has gone down from 122kg to 102 kg and could be a handy acquisition into the seniour side if he stays fit

I heard that Bushy has pulled out of the night series. What's going on there? They were to do battle with the might of Natte next Tuesday. Probably enough to frighten any side off the park. The word is that Thommo (Maryborough's coach) is trying to put a team together so that Natte can get a hit out.

It would have been encouraging for the Avoca club to have 45 at training on Wed night. (Obviously a credit to the current coaching panel). I am told that the number could easily have been 55+ as some intending players are still tied up with work or summer sports commitments. I don't think Shamui and his brother could make it on Wed night.
Apparently the club held a full scale intra club practice match - no holds barred. There would have been a few sore bodies the next day.

I noticed that Nick and Ash Robinson (not related) have lodged clearances to the Carisbrook club. (something that the King predicted some months ago after having a chat to Nick at the Ballarat races). No doubt the Avoca club will be disappointed that two of its local players will possibly be taking to the field against it this season. The loss could also rob Avoca of that the much needed depth that is needed for a team to be successful. Nick is a past league B &F winner.

I couldn't imagine that Avoca would have any animosity towards the Carisbrook club - as i've stated before - all is fair in love, war and football.

The latest on the ground situation is that four grounds in Avoca, Caribrook, Maldon and Trentham are in very playable condition while the report coming out of Newstead is that its ground is fine except that the surface has no grass and it is as hard as a rock.

I heard a whisper that Avoca could be on the verge of a couple of surprise signings in the near future.
Watch this space!!

On the coaching front, I think that Campbells Creek is still without a coach. Word is that the club held a crisis meeting the other night.
