Princes Park has got waste water back and running, saw the sprinklers on tonight so it will green up in no time and will be nice to play on in the night series starting tomorrow night!

Hey mate, what sort of team are Talbot going to produce tomorrow night? A lot of kids? This was probably talked about in this tread earlier but I didn't read it.
It will be a fairly young side with most of the older guys being rested but we think it will be competitive. Still a few older guys are turning out.

Ran into Jules on Friday night at one of the Rat's quality establishments. He was out with a few of the Redan boys running amok. Anyway, from what I could gather ( or remember) he gave every indication he would remain with Redan for a least this season. But alot can change over a few weeks....I'll leave it at that. Anything you want add Wonker?
Julian Field will definately be playing with Redan this season and rightly so. He is still a very capable player at major league level. Even though Jules achieved most of the things many of us only dream about, he believes that he still owes Redan another year. Sure the Avoca club asked the question but Jules indicated right from the start that his intention was to stay at Redan for season 2007. At no stage did he give the club false hopes or lead them on as far as lining up for his old club this season.
Julian is a quality person who plays top quality football and he will know when the time is right to return home.

On the surprise recruits Shamui the first of them signed with the club last night. His name is Travis Ross. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the other half of the surprise signed as well. As I stated previously Shamui - watch this space.

On top of the surprise recruits I spoke of earlier there could be an even bigger surprise recruit that may find a home at Avoca this season - and no it's not Jumping Jimmy 'The Ghost' Jess.

They tell me that you really shone at training the other night Shamui. It must have been the sight of the soccer ball that was inter-mingled with the footballs. Tell your brother that the club is about to break out the soccer ball and that might exicte him a lttle also.

RICH ... according to Addy (the Bgo variety not the Maryboro one) tonite's other game sees Maryboro reserves vs. Daylesford reserves.
A second division clash in the Princes Park series under lights.

well last night saw talbot with the help of some borough boys take on natte in the night series and i must say it was a pretty good hit out for the talbot boys considering there limited preperation. took us a little while to get into the game as natte overrun early with 3 quick goals, but once we settled down we were able to get getting and stop there run.

it was pretty obvious that natte were far more polished than us and that is what got them over the line by 3 goals.

wish them all the best for the remainder of the series

Who were the better players for both teams?

Was a good hitout and thanks must go to Michael Jennings, Cam Skinner, Wayne Tucker and Mick Noonan for filling in for us at short notice. Always a big task to fit into a new side and all played well.

Talbot with about 8 regular senior players missing and very much underdone did not disgrace themselves and tried hard all night. A lack of height, especially up forward, hurt us and we missed some easy goals that would have had us in the hunt. All players were very rusty which is to be expected!

Natte also had a few out but I think they would have been slightly disappointed with how they went. Skills let them down at times and many promising build ups were hampered by the Talbot backline, none better than Nathan Bond at fullback who had a great game.

Daylesford 2s were on top when I left close to half time in the second game over Maryborough 2s but Maryborough had a very young side in.

Talbot: Nath Bond, Matt Smith, Drew Bartram, Mick Jennings, Glen WIlls, Mick Noonan, Rob Ward

Natte: Tough as I dont know them all: Jimmy McNamee was good, cant think of too many other real standouts, they all had a reasonable hitout and were good in parts. Forward line probably Nattes biggest concern at this stage.

I went and had a look. It was what you would expect from a first hitout for both teams.

Natte: S. Ross, #19 (No idea his name), A Ross, J McNamee, and M McNamee (Good job on Bux)

Talbot: Bond #22, Mick Noonan, Glen Wills, #43, and Skinner was good in defence.

I think Natte will sort it's forward line out with J-Mac making his way down. They were short a few of their on ball brigade which probably took him away from his spot.

Good game though.

Talbot will be a force in our league this year.

Maybe I am a tight bustard but $7 to get into that night series is ridiculous. You see 2 games of shortened footy and the second game was 2 seconds sides.

To have to pay $7 as a player was a bit rich I thought.

Who was missing from Natte? Did big Jonesy play?
From last years team that will play this year...
Shane Jardine, Jeremy Robinson, Jamie Andrews, and Clint Ross.

New inclusions who didn't play...
Wenden Robinson, and 4 guys we can't really name yet.

Last night wasn't a great indication for either team as the 24 that took to the park were probably a long way off the teams we will both field for 2007.

Good hit out though.

Yeah I agree Dont Argue. After speaking to a few Talbot boys today we were able to name about 15 players who could of been in that side last night who are senior standard players and you guys are close to the same amount. We were a very young side and that game would have benefited them immensely.

To be honest IMO I would have liked to see James play closer to goal. I thought a lot of his good work was wasted at times and I think his possessions would count for more if he was kicking more goals. Just my opinion. Only a praccy match though!

Total rip. Typical MFC trying to make some cash. $5 would be reasonable.
$4-5 would have been fine. We were a bit peeved coz we were doing them a favour by filling in for Bushy and it cost that much to get in. I think if the price was a bit lower they would get more there although the teams playing last night were not really big crowd pullers. Talbot and Natte had a reasonable following there.

I think the reason they charge $7 dollars is because they don't charge enrty fee for the teams into the comp. The gate fee is suppose to cover that.

Yeah they have to make money somehow. Whats the prize for first?? Perhaps they could have a small team entry fee and drop the price to 4-5 bucks to encourage more to come through the gate.

As far as I know Egan has left Bushy and has an interest in the Inglewood pub. There are reports he may find his way back to St Arnaud in the North Central League where he has played previously.

wonker/samhui was wondering if u could shed some light on some of your new recruits out avoca, seems to be a fair influx of players coming your way.........

maldon although they have picked up a fair few players they also seem to be losing a couple aswell, will be interesting to see how they fair.

in regards to trentham i have been informed by a mate that they could be a darkhorse this season, as alot and i for 1 have assumed they have recruited a fair few younger ones, but he has informed me that they have recuited a few older ones aswell to balance it out, and some of them can play the game, he informed me of one recruit who played TAC cup and state footy, so will be interesting to see hwo that pans out!!!!!!, that would be a massive turn-around for those guys to make finals

They will be competitive no doubt and would be an outside chance of playing finals. I just think that it will be tough for them to play consistently good footy this year with all new players. Will take them time to gel, perhaps even longer than this year.

I heard last night that Newstead may be in trouble with a lack of numbers. Can anyone elaborate on that?
