Oppo Camp Mason Cox - Freo SSP 2025

I was always a part of the Mason adds structure fan group. He played the first part of the season in the twos. He was our backup/insurance in 2025. The club has chosen to part ways and invest in youth. With full knowledge of the development of Steene and Smit the choice has been made. It may have a cost but the list is weakened because the club has not been investing games in youth. A shift was required. I still love Mason.
The list is definitely weaker because of failure to play youth but that’s the price of success.

Additionally the youth/ depth were all injured long term last season!

Don't make us your enemy, Coxy. I much preferred his initial gracious & appreciative goodbye more than the sour grapes in the past 24 hours.

Must be hard going from the best colours in the league to that rubbish.

Why is Mase now having a whinge? Is this for clickbait on his brand or is he seriously suggesting he doesn't know why the club moved him on?
I'm pretty sure when the club said to him we're not going to be offering you a new contract and he was free to explore his options, the club advised him why.
To say you were blindsided is a bit of a stretch Mase.
Unfortunately l think when we're playing Freo, Mase will be running around for South Fremantle or someone in the WAFL, unless there's major injuries to Darcy, Jackson or Treacy....

Thought he spoke well in the presser. There was one reporter who was desperately trying to get him to hang shit on the pies, to his credit he didn’t. Interestingly he did seem surprised by the delisting and the reason why. Like many of us were when you see our lack of ruck stocks.

He could be in for a rough time with the WA media, they are brutal.

He’s just trying to make himself relevant.

Won’t work.

He became irrelevant the moment he decided to play on. Should have retired and gone into the media as a Collingwood legend.

I'm not sure how he could be surpised. Even Mitchell said he saw it coming.
When you are
1. Told to wait until the end of the season and without a contract
2. Told to explore your options in the trade period
3. When nothing comes of it, doesn't get a contract, it shouldn't be surprising.

Generally its how many delistings happen league wide.

He was given the chance to retire and move into the media. Would have been fantastic as a boundary rider or other gig.

What a fool to risk further injury playing for bloody Freo.

I’ve always been very fond of Mason Cox and am thrilled for him that he’s been given another chance to extend what he clearly loves doing.

We don’t win too many flags sadly, but he played a pretty significant role in the last one, which I’ll be forever grateful for.

Wish him nothing but the best, really hope he plays against us, he’d love running around with our boys again, firing them up 🥰

But please stay fit and healthy Jeremy!!

I’ve noticed a particular trend with players who have been traded or delisted by us. It seems like Collingwood is always painted as the enemy for trading or delisting a player.

When Adams and Noble left, it was basically sob story about how we were somehow at fault for them missing out on the Premership.

Even yesterday it was about Fin Macrae and how it was about how we didn’t play him in his best position even though he had plenty of chances to establish himself in the side. Now it’s about Cox being blindsided by us delisting him.

Either players who we delist or trade love to sook, or the Media just try and build it up as some big fiasco even though moving on players are completely normal. I’d say it’s more the latter

It’s about using Collingwood to generate a story.

Cox is a 35 year old ruck who was delisted. There is no story, other than Freo’s staggeringly stupid decision to sign him on a two year deal.

Yep. The media bait them. Anything for an opportunity to make us look like the bad guys.

It's disappointing a few of them fall for it & they can't just remain mature & gracious.

We havent lost too many over the years that have burnt us, Mason just another one. Looking forward to IQ out-bodying him and exposing his weaknesses. He has been an amazing story considering his starting point, and I wish him all the best, but he is done imo
