Quite the opposite.

Quality specialist first ruckmen are scarce as hens teeth and usually trade at a premium due to the scarcity factor. Witts definitely went for unders due to playing VFL most of last year as Grundy was ahead of him. Suns definitely got a good deal whilst Collingwood in my opinion were thinking Father son points at the trade table with Brown and Daicos on the horizon and the club needing to gather points as much as picks.

Cox is not proven as either a specialist first ruck or a forward but hes certainly proven he can do both. His value will be higher that Witts because quite a few clubs are interested..........including Collingwood themselves who are keen to retain him. Last year the Suns were the only buyer.
Quite the opposite ?? You reinforced exactly what I posted. With Stef Martin and potentially Goldstein on the market and looking for a trade, not sure Cox will net more in a trade than Witts did last year. Happy to be proven wrong, but don't think he will.

No I said Witts was teh exception to the rule and he went for unders. Perhaps the clubs looking at Cox Martin and Goldstein this year should have done their homework last year and gone for Witts instead of leaving the Suns to be the sole bidder. Imagine of the Bulldogs had taken Witts instead of Cloke last summer. They might be playing finals.

Hopefully Cox stays at Collingwood. Martin and Goldstein dont have high trade value simply because of their age. And in Goldsteins case....past it.

I think he may, because Witts played pretty much all 2016 in the seconds.

Also Cox has shown he can kick a goal when down forward. Something which was a major weakness of Witts which is why we couldn't play Witts and Grundy together.

Cox's height and leap make him a difficult player to stop in the air. Obviously still needs work/experience on positioning and reading the game.

This is going to go the same way as the Witts deal. A whole bunch of numpties that have no idea telling all and sundry that he's rubbish for the next two months. Collingwood are weak as water so they role over and trade him for some nuffie like Close or a useless pick. This allows the numpty masses rejoice over being proved right.

Six months following that he's the number one ruck at said club that reamed Collingwood come trade time. He then proceeds to play quality football for 2018 in a role he'll never play at Collingwood with Grundy there. Collingwood posters vent at the club for roling over whilst the numpties sit back and say "hah would you look at that he can play after all and Collingwood let him go for nothing. What a bunch of numpties".

The moral of the story don't listen to the numpties about how good he is, but listen to the them about how the deal will go down. As a Collingwood person I just wish we weren't such submissives at the trade table.
That's how it kind of works though. Supporters can talk as much as they want about how much potential a player has and how well they'll do with more chances at another club, but unless they've shown this at their current club they don't have the trade value supporters hope for. Witts was surplus to your needs, and hadn't had a chance to show his potential (like he's been able to at Gold Coast), so you were never going to get that second rounder you wanted. And that's what opposition "numpties" are talking about when they were saying you were dreaming. They're talking about what the trade will be, not what you think it possibly should be, and surprise surprise they were right.

Similar thing happened to the Dogs last year. Both Hrovat (22 games) and Stevens (15 games) made good contributions to their teams this year, and so should have had some trade value (not as much as Witts) but we gave them away for pretty much nothing at all because they wanted out, hadn't shown much at the Dogs, and it was clear we had no claim to better trades. It's frustrating but I guess it's how it works.

I have been strong on what Cox can become since he arrived at the club. His stocks have risen in the last few weeks. I can understand why he may look elsewhere for better opportunity but really hope we keep him.

Thing that intrigues me most about Cox is his unique physical traits. Obviously very tall with a great leap and excellent speed off the mark for his size, 3.0 sec 20m. He also adapted fairly quickly to forward leading patterns having 5 goal games in the VFL in his first year. In 2016, his debut season with 11 games his goals per game average was better than almost all the current and recent best KPFs efforts for their 1st 11 games. This year his contested marking numbers in the VFL have been off the chart being much higher on a per game basis than anyone manages in the AFL.

For the AFL in 2017 he is no 1 on the stat of goals per game compared to any ruckman in the game and 4th best ruckman for contested marks per game behind Lobb, Ryder and Jacobs. He had a VFL game where he had 24 disposals, 24 hit outs, 15 marks, 4 contested, 6 goals 2 behinds. It's only VFL but it's an indicator of how he is developing.

His goalkicking, physical traits and contested marking sets him aside as a different product for a ruckman. There is no doubt he can be a serviceable centresquare ruckman at a minimum. He needs to learn to have more involvement in the game stat wise in the AFL but that will come judging by his VFL development. But he could turn in that most rare species if he continues on his current path, a goal kicking ruckman.

A ruck forward who is fast becoming scary good with the high ball 15 meters out from the goal line.
After getting reamed in the Witts deal hard to say what he's worth. I was a big fan of Witts but it's quite obvious that the last three weeks of this year plus his BOG game in the VFL has meant Cox' value has risen considerably.

He's still an uncontracted rookie.

Value going from 0 to slightly higher than 0 really doesn't mean much from a list management perspective.

Being a rookie is a moot point. Being un-contracted puts him in the same basket as nearly all other guy seeking greener pastures.
His value has risen considerably in the last month no doubt about that.

Ok. You've counvinced me. Pick 68 is now on the table.

What this really means is that you either like him a lot and down playing it or have zero vision!

I've actually been sent by the lions to denigrate mason to decrease his trade value.

I didn't think I'd be outed so quickly

OK seems like you are just trolling. Probably won't even be traded but lets wait and see.

No deal. We don't do trades with Collingwood unless there are steak knives involved.
Too late. BRAB has already signed off on the deal. It's a good one. We are desperately short on midfielders right now.
