Always seems out of place, even in last weeks game when he kicked 3. I don't think he cut's it. Let some other club waste their time on him, we have enough C grade players.

I don't understand the vitriol.
The vitriol is towards the man on the field, not the man off the field. Sure he's a good bloke, and that's his on field problem. For a guy his size he get's pushed around like a 6 years old Auskicker. He'll need to channel Mummy if he's gonna succeed at the highest level.

To the topic of international players I think they are great for the game. Stynes, Kennely, Hanley, Pyke and Tuohy are all successes. To dismiss that, and to take away the opportunity they were given, would diminish the game.
All those above mentioned players, apart from Pyke, played with a round ball using both hands and feet, in a game which skill set resembles ours best. Pyke played with an oval ball in game where kicking and catching and picking up an unpredictable bouncing ball is integral. Pyke was a winger so he ran like the wind and had great take-off speed.

Cox played a round ball game where using your hands to control the ball is penalised. And for those that say he was a basketballer. His time on court for Oklahoma State was a grand 57 minutes! If Aussie Rules was played exclusively with your feet, using a round ball, he might just make it.

None of our players deserve this crap. Seems like there are a few people who 2010 gave the idea we had some God-given right to dominate the other 17 teams in a competition that the governing body has devised to level. It's like we are pre-fall Carlton supporters.

he is avg almost two goals a game. tbh if we had cleaner disposers of the ball and hit him lace out rather then at his toes exposing his ground deficiencies he would be kicking 4-5 a gam
+1. He's an almost impossible match up if the ball is kicked to him to advantage.

Unlike Cloke he gets all of his shots on goal 30 metres out or less with no angle, and unlike Cloke he manages to convert most of them. He hardly ever gets outmarked and straightens us up in the forward 50 better than Cloke did. He doesn't work upfield anywhere near as well as Cloke but i don't give a rats about that tbh.

People critical of his current output under appreciate the amount of growth he still has in him as a play and underappreciate how difficult it is to play as a tall forward in our current side. Cloke, White and Moore have performed no better or more consistently in the last two season

You make a fine point except for the fact that the position he played was goalkeeper o_O

Like Dawes in 2010 he's capable of a few clever tap ons that don't show on the stats sheet; his tap to Elliott in the goal square yesterday instead trying to take the mark is one example.
watched the 2010 reply last night
too right set up a couple with great knock ons ect
BEST big forward in that game, mobile tough footy smart
damn shame he broke that knuckle

I think we should keep him on the list for next year as a back up ruck for Grundy and a back up fwd for Moore. He's competing with White and Keefe for a list spot next year. Who we pick up in the trade period will determine how many of those players we will keep. I think 1-2 of Keefe, White and Cox will be gone at the end of the year.

I prefer Moore and B.Reid as our tall fwds and Grundy as our ruck for the rest of the year.

do you have any notion of HOW much an achievement it was to even get a walk on role in a major collegebasketball program, let alone recieve a Brownlow vote in your first ever 40 games of australian rules footy, never will be repeated
Hardly his fault were stupid and cant seem to utilize the OUTSTANDING skills he could offer

Why do we persevere with this bloke seriously? someone please enlighten me as to what he does for the team? he cant mark the ball, he cant run, he cant bend over.

I dont get it these internationals are so much of a pot shot and i dont care what H/W measurables they have at some point you just have to stop and this guy is literally the definition of Look like Tarzan plays like Jane. Watching the game yesterday with him in the Ruck against Jobe Watson was pure comical Jobe pushed him aside all 6'10 of him like he was a toy doll.
Terrible post, look at the facts below your original post and comeback on and sensibly try to refute the facts

Spare us! They want to play insipid football as they did yesterday they deserve the backlash from frustrated members. You're type of weak platitude towards players that can do no wrong is better reserved for a club such as the one in your avatar.

Don't agree with the rant of the OP, but I do believe he gets senior games simply because we have no other alternative due to the list management team.

lol what a joke of a statement , training with world calibar athletes firstly, making a major college program as a walk on, would be picked up by ALL clubs

That tells me that he's even more limited.

So no real foot skills to baulk an opponent with the ball at his feet? No decisive passes to an onside player running full tilt? So what did he do? Punch and slap away round balls? Occassionally catch one? And then roost that round ball 40 metres? Geez, anyone can master that. Was he goalkeeper purely because of his size, and not his skills?

Im not a huge fan of Mason, but our problem is the midfield. Id love to see him get a crack at it with some better delivery and even contests.

I'd like to see him stay put in our forward line instead of pushing up with everyone else. He can't get back fast enough for a fast break easy goal anyway.
All we are doing is fatiguing him & ensuring he gets to less contests in our forward line. Along with many many others on the list I think he will improve with a better coach & game plan.

I just think keep persisting, it's only been 2 years, reckon give it another 2 and then make that call. The one thing I will say is that he needs to work hard on body position and vertical leap - get those two right ( and move the ball quickly forward ) and we would be singing his praises

He is the best available and so we play him. We embrace his story, cheer his successes and devlopment. If things reach a point where it seems he won't have a role in team success then he moves on. You lot forgoten the excitement around this forum when we beat other clubs to his signing? His first game?

His #1 party trick of contested grab is a rare one. Rest of his game offsets that.

It's no different to playing two rucks one up forward. Doesn't work with the full 18 having to defend.

Oh god is that all we have to be excited about? We're bad, but not at that pitiful level yet!
