I can’t see Buckley dropping him, it would ruin his confidence and send a poor message to the group, and frankly be an admission that the game plan sucks...

... but it absolutely has to happen.

Reid was only marginally better than Cox. If thats our forward line tall brigade, when are in the poo so far up to our necks its not funny. The forwards were always my biggest concern and if tonight is any indication its going to be hard to watch every week.

Can't hang a bloke on the back of one crap performance but gee that was disappointing and painful to watch
What do you mean one crap performance, to date Mason has shown nothing to suggest he can make it at AFL level. He is a liability when played in the senior side

Yep, he was terrible, but our ball movement overall was putrid, as usual, so it didn't do him any favours.

Again, he was bad, cannot believe he didn't take a mark, but I wouldn't drop him

Can we drop the coach?

What would be the poor message to the group... "team if you are terrible you are going to keep getting games, don't worry about it".

When did Cox actually play as a forward tonight? I thought he played all over, where ever he wanted and never presented as a target up forward.

Looks like he got signed as a running hbf or wingman.

****ing disgusted I am of how he was let do whatever he thought was a good idea tonight. Should have been played at FF f or 80% of the game tonight... instead he played 0%.

(apparently Cox is a running hbf!!?????????????)

It’s not a good look dropping your key forward after one game in which he wasn’t lacking for effort.

However, he shouldn’t be playing as a key forward in the first place.

I was begging that he would take Brisbane's offer in the off season and we go ahead an offer him 3 yrs....
List management is a shambles.

There's no way he should ever play unless Grundy is injured.

Simple as.

No doubt a bad game, he wasn’t alone in that regard though. Tough conditions for talls too.

He needs some anger and to play his size...he should be crashing packs and splitting heads. He’s pretty quick in a straight line, useless around the ground.

To be fair his hands were always hit or miss and the wet didn't help.

But what was the club thing going into the pre season think Cox and Reid could be our two key forwards.

Tonight his mistakes became comical. I thought he at least did try and compete and brought the ball to ground. If it ever clicks with him he could be a star but that is a big question, will it ever click?

Why the **** is he on the wing.

Alright he had a shocker but lost all confidence. Wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water just yet
Probably because Reid isn't fit enough to play as the linking CHF and we played our best option for that role down back.

We are up to our necks in shite.
Terrible.
No structure.
Build a reliable spine and then work around it.
Cox does not or ever will have the ability to form a part of a spine. To suggest that Cox would EVER have more football nous or ability than somebody like McLarty is offensive to that kid (who has probably been playing footy since he was a six year old).
We’ve seen what Cox can offer in key position sic. NOTHING.
We are shit.
We will be lucky to finish above bottom 4.
Time to try out our future. ie McLarty as key position and ruck relief (forward or back) and playing other draftees/kids that haven’t had a crack yet. See what skill sets they provide.
Varcoe, Wells, Mayne, Dunne won’t lead us to a flag.
Broomhead, Crisp, Smith, Phillips, Blair, Langdon are perennial ball butcherers that are not (and never will be) at an elite level.
