First half was poor, but to many bombs to him, second half very good.
Needs to be more consistent in games and between games.
Lot to like, work in progress.

What happened?
Last we we were delivering the ball to him exactly how we should, in a manner which lets him have a run at it.
Today we went back to lobbing it on his head.

Good to see he didn't let the first half deflate him and came out strong in the second.
I have been a huge fan since day one. The good news he will be better again next year.

Great steps made this year Coxy. You're mate Grundy will need you to support him a bit more in 2019 but with the way you've developed in the past couple of years I can't wait to see what you bring to our side in coming years

He was giving up the contest in that first half. He also needs to put his knee with vigor through players who drop into his space.
Yep. Reckon he would have got a light roasting at half time.
Crikey we need a couple more KP players.
Hope McLarty comes on next season in the back half. Allow Moore to swing back and fwd.
Cox is great but we need him playing second fiddle.

Stats alone don't do this guy justice in his worth to the team structurally. it's no coincidence that our goals dried up when he was out injured in the back half of the year. this also impacted the midfield because Grundy had to ruck 99% game time instead of 80% making us far more predictable. With Cox out we tried the " small forward line 'with dagoey, stephenson and elliott " but with dagoey out we lost plan B pretty quickly also.

Reid competed ok last night, even if he didn't hold many marks, but he just doesn't draw as many defenders as Cox. Cox's size sees multiple defenders peel off to quell his influence, which in turn frees up others and creates space.

Lol my god the delusion.
Cox would have produced exactly what Reid did yesterday—-and don’t try and convince yourselves otherwise. He would have marked nothing under the conditions.
I’ve said it all year theres no point playing a guy just because they’re tall and we should stick to our strengths and what we have—-which is medium/ smalls who can move and mark.

We rob ourselves of a quality player who can have more impact and do more.

And in the end yesterday our style of play was compromised because we have another tall.
When you don’t have one you need to move the ball differently and we went against everything we had been doing the last 6 or so weeks.

So who are you playing in place of him. He is our point of difference, has an affect on the opposition backline forcing them to watch him. Heard him interviewed and apparently he’s had an eye problem since last year and it went unoticed, with it fixed I predict a 50+ goal year from the big fella.

Lol 50 goal year when his best return is 25 in 24 games?
Yeah you keep living in that fantasy land
He’s 29 years old not 20.

As I said just because they’re tall doesn’t make them good.

He would have delivered the same output as Reid did and you treat Cox like he’s our lord and saviour.

It’s simple—-play to your strengths.
Our strengths isn’t a key forward because we don’t have a Cameron or Lynch etc.

But we do have a plethora of quality small and mediums who can mark and move

It’s not difficult to play to your strengths as opposed trying to create something that doesn’t exist.

Terrible conditions for talls and I have little doubt that Cox would have been ineffectual. The Giants also have a phenomenal back-line.

They can definitely roll the Tigers. That would be sweet.

Keeffe would have dominated Cox. Cox’ biggest advantage he has over defenders is usually that’s hes a good 15cm taller than them but against Keeffe who’s also really tall and has good reach his biggest strength is taken away.

I still don't get why we delisted Keefe.
He's no A grader but good depth.
No idea why we tried to play him forward. He's a Backman, plain and simple.
Would allow Moore to swing forward if required occasionally too.

Cox greatest asset is 4th qtr marking when the opposition gets tired. With the weather he prob would’ve been a liability for 3 qtrs, but so we’re about 6-8 other players.

Cox would’ve been very handy in the 4th qtr when 30 players were in our forward line and we couldn’t take a mark.

I have to disagree. He attracts more defenders to the contest then Reid and whilst does get pushed under it at times his front and square is more predictable to the crumbers which is why Thomas output wasn't as good. His then also a better replacement in the ruck. So structurally he would have been better than Reid.

Lol now we are suggesting Thomas’ form was down because of cox?
Faaark me the delusion just gets better and better.

Mate Travis cloke used to attract more defenders in genuine fear
Teams don’t fear Cox—-despite what you may think.
