I’m sorry but a performance like that is hardly ticking boxes. Wow he took a few marks after the first Q.

1/5
Considering the derision of his first game performance, he was certainly better in his second game for the season. Importantly, his inclusion in the side did not prevent Grundy from putting in a BOG performance. He was alright. Give him a break.

He played his role well.

Grundy wasn’t stifled.

Our small forwards were the main targets in open play, Reid pushing higher up the ground and Cox being something of the get out kick.

Against the Giants once options had dried up we kicked long and were easily picked off, but with Cox he was bringing the ball to ground in 1 on 3s, exactly what we want.

Need Cox in the team, as Reid is insurance to potentially go back if the Adelaide tall forwards get on top.

Started to show something in the 2nd half. Absolute shocker in 1st rd but did improve last night. I don’t really want him in but with Darcy out he has to play in case another tall goes down mid game so Pendles doesn’t have to ruck again.

I feel like that has been blown up, particularly on this board, way more than required. If Grundy is any good at all, (and we know he is) having Cox as relief ruck / deep forward will not impact his game one iota. Grundy can’t ruck 100% of the game so having Cox give him a chop out will help Grundy stay fresh and still be impactful as the game draws to its conclusion.
Admittedly, most posters don’t seem to use this excuse for Grundy as it’s just not reasonable.

Cox is never going to be A-grader, but what does he need to do to hold his spot in our best 22?
Not go to water when he gets pushed under the ball and learn to hold his ground and mark under pressure.

Think Cox is needed for structure. His job more than anything is to bring the ball to ground in the forward line against opposition KPDs. Number of time Cox was 1on 3 and still managed to half the contest.

Reid works up the wings as the outlet tall, Cox is the forward tall to at least bring the ball to ground for the small forwards to crumb or a least lock it in.

He may not take a lot of marks, but he needs to not lose the contest.

Really good point.

He’s never going to be Paul Salmon

But he gives us a huge point of difference in his height is near impossible to just leave alone so he will de attended to.

Go role type

Let him just do a nice job

He needs to be played deep and close to goal. We need crumbers around him. He can be a weapon if we use him properly. Keep playing him for the entire year, structure around him, let him get confidence and experience and continuity.

Great turn around by the big man. He will start clunking them and you will regret your negativity towards him.

He brings the ball to ground, kicks straight amd is probably the best second ruck in terms of hitouts in the league.

He’s 22 games into his career, let him get to 50 before we judge to harshly

Sounds like and feels like a knee jerk reaction

I game when no one let alone a inexperienced beginner took grabs with a slippery ball

Set your benchmarks
How many marks per game
How many hit outs ect ect

4 contested Friday
You're still whining

Your the only one whining because somebody doesn't rate your favourite player.

Btw, I'll change my tune if he takes those marks on Talia.

That would make him a outstanding forward as few do

Cost is nothing
Works his arse off

Lets hope you get on board
He takes a decent chunk of our salary cap, he's hardly free, but let's hope he shows me what he can do.

Thought he had one of his best games for us on Friday night. One bad game round 1 and he has suddenly surpassed Langdon as the whipping boy. Other than Blair if he's on the park.
He was poor again on Friday. They need to send him back to the VFL and see if he can find form. He doesn’t present and he kills space in the forward line. He struggled to have an influence and didn’t start taking a few grabs until Marchbank was injured and the game was done
