Kangaroos lose Mason to injury
Friday Oct 20 16:00 AEST
Kangaroos enforcer Willie Mason has been ruled out of Saturday's Tri-Nations Test against New Zealand because of injury.
Mason suffered concussion and was still sporting a black eye and battling severe headaches late this week after being felled by a heavy bump from David Kidwell soon after coming off the bench in last Saturday night's series opener in Auckland.
And while he had insisted all week that he was confident of being right to take his place in the starting line-up, Mason was ruled unfit to play by Kangaroos doctor Hugh Hazard on Friday.
Mason's place in the starting XIII has been taken by Mark O'Meley, who also started last week's Test in place of his Canterbury Bulldogs team-mate despite being initially named on the bench.
With O'Meley taking Mason's place on the field, Brisbane Broncos forward Sam Thaiday has been added to the bench.

Real Shame that he's out because he is a gun and we have to wait a little longer for the war between him and kidwell.
