Delisted Mason Wood [delisted]

400k not massive money considering he played 18 games for a team with finals aspirations.
Can't think he'll get that same amount from elsewhere though when out of contract.

I'd be keen to give him a trial at the suns, facilitated by some later pick swaps but think guys who are 100% committed to team and personal development are probably more on our radar.

Darcy Macpherson thrived, Jack Martin didn't despite the massive talent differential. Kind of feel like Mason Wood is more of a Jack Martin here.
He is one of the fittest at the club and works hard, just struggles with his own game in the heat of the moment.

He is still contracted, but it’s effectively up to him if he wants to go.

Probably an early third will do it.

Is Mason Wood the new Aaron Black, or is Aaron Black the old Mason Wood?
Aaron Black had a year as a purple patch, Mason hasn't even had that.

There was little interest in him and has been told it's last chance to saloon according to his manager.

Clubs like north have to off load players like Wood , He has been on the list 7 years for just 60 games and probably 10-15 games where he has looked the part
unfortunately Wood is a list clogger that just teases and doesn't or cant deliver

Not much they can do if there isn't any interest for him. He's contracted for another year.

It's not like he's a dud, on his day he's a pretty handy player but the gap from his best to worst is pretty big.

I think they should try him on a wing.

If he doesn't produce next year he will be gone.

Yes he definitely is one of those frustrating ones.... who knows new coach new ideas might give him the lift he needs to get to that next level

Wing and some have suggested as a KPD.

Massive tank, but lacks footy smarts on where to run to, defence may simplify it for him like it did for Daw.

Could Wood be worth Sydney using in the trade to Essendon for Daniher? Some comments on this thread say Essendon has (or had some interest in MW). SEN commentators staying Essendon would want an AFL ready player in the deal and a pick. Give them a forward option at least...

So Wood to Sydney for Swans pick 25 and a swap of later picks to balance the deal (depending who you think is getting the better deal in the first instance, say Norths pick 47 for Sydney's 54)

Then Sydney send Wood and pick 5 to Sydney for Joe?

He's afraid of the ball. Has no future in footy.

Is he afraid of it, or does he have a midfield that's incapable of kicking it to his advantage? Ben Brown has gone from 60 goals a year the previous three years to just barely scraping a goal a game in 2020 too.

He's afraid of it. He hasn't been worth keeping since 2016.

It's amazing how things pan out.
Had a big offer some years ago from Sydney on the table--security too.
Opted to stay at North and now career is at a major crossroads---and every chance he may struggle to be on any list come next season.

Wood was also on the list when Brown kicked all those goals and didn’t perform.
He is one of the most talented players on our list, but lacks in desire, hardness, competitiveness, etc.
I still had hope going into this year, but he is cooked. You can’t be on a list for 8 years and blame forward entries for your lack of fortunes.

So you're saying our forward delivery this year has been so s**t it's retroactively made his form in the last four years bad too? I'll admit that if any team could pull that off it'd be us, but no, he's just not good

He gets his chance today in a warm up before he plays his bunnies next week. Not sure 70 would cut it - maybe a player swap for someone looking for a fresh start.

How did he go against his bunnies ?

Do you think he will get another contract or will another club take him as a free agent , Apparently has a massive tank and just about to hit his prime
