Not worried.

Just have to pay more than we otherwise should have been.

Daw is the worry. But he has said completely opposite so lots of fear over nothing.

We have multiple spots coming up with retirements/form, anyone half decent in those will be playing next and future years :thumbsu:

Problem with this is that we haven't got the balls to move anyone into retirement. We are the softly softly team who won't make a decision and will leave it up to our underperforming players to decide when to pull the pin.

Not sure about that. I think whilst we are (supposedly) shooting for a flag we will keep all the oldies going as they are (arguably) better than the replacements.

However, if we were to lose games and blow the second half of the year I suspect (and like to think) we would take a ruthless approach and re-energize the team by making some hard calls.

If we don't blow our season and drew, waite, spud, dal go around again, do you honestly see some of our up and coming prospects like wood and co hanging around to possibly play vfl again for another year. Our triple towers have done jack s**t for weeks on end and they haven't been dropped, the only reason waite was omitted is due to injury.
In all honesty wood would not have been given a go if garner was fit, because we would not have dropped one of the towers regardless of form.

With us getting rid of Black at seasons end we can use that money to give Mason a nice contract.

Really impressed with this bloke, has the fundamentals down to a since art.

Anyone know who he BFAAK?

As far as our forwards go, the sadly reality is I get the feeling that if Petrie and Waite both play on next year than we will lose one or both of Wood and Daw. The club can't let that happen.

I think the contract status of Drew, Waite, Brown, Daw and Black is the issue holding things up, from what I recall reading, his manage wants to talk about future direction, it is not just will he game a game or not but will he have the opportunity to thrive. It is different to wanting to be gifted games, but if you are a footnote in the club's forward structure then that can artificially cap the ceiling a player can reach.

The fact of the matter is, he is now best 22, regardless of Petrie/Waite situation. We have proved that over the last few weeks, that there is room for him in the side now, with the added pressure that he now provides.

Petrie's future is more important for Majak's contract negotiations, which is even more interesting, given both Drew and Maj are managed by the same manager. Waite should get another year as a minimum, possibly two IMO.
