First contact war would be pretty cool but I became attached to Garus more than any other character so I'd hate to fight against him. I think something like a second Rachni war wouldn't be a bad idea.

I don't think Bioware will ever make an ending 'canon'. It will piss too many people off, which is why they'll make it so far in the future/past that there will only be slight references.

Shepard wouldn't have survived destroy if they didn't like the idea.

They won't do a prequel, EA don't want hard RPG elements
And want it more shooter like so it sells better.

They won't sign off on prequels without thermal clips (ie: no unlimited ammo, cool down feature)

And I doubt very much that Bioware would shit on their own IP's established Canon to that extent.

ME2 is by far the best game of the series. Part 3 was a letdown and I hope the 4th can go back to being as captivating as the others.

I really missed being able to scan and explore all those planets.

Two's exploration was far weaker than the first game's though. Fewer places to explore and only set pieces on the few planets you could explore. Hammerhead expansion was weak too.

For someone who hasn't read through the thread, is there any talk of the planet exploration returning?

Some facts we've dug up:
The game borrows many mechanics from DA:I which means production time is shorter.

Given that the game is introducing two "new" races it indicates the game must be placed with in the current cycle (sorry no metacron war)
There is an actual playable version of the game. Some speculation that the game may already be in "pre alpha" (I don't know that means so don't ask)

Many writers and team members from DA:I have be transferred to ME: Next (placeholder)

ME: Next (placeholder) is "very unlikely to have a numbered title"

The game will use the latest Frostbite engine (2.0?) available.

The Alpha stage is when the incomplete game is ready to be tested for gameplay functionality and basic engine issues (i.e. collision detection, pathfinding, etc.)

The Beta stage is when all assets and features are included in the game and then tested for bugs.

From what I've read, the Alpha stage generally begins 8-10 months before the final testing before release begins.

I want something different. Mass Effect 4 as a Detective RPG in Space. Something like that could be cool as hell.

Greatest series of all time.

Not sure how many times I replayed 1 and 2, maybe three or four times each.
Finished 3 once and haven't gone again, really should though.

Will buy day 1 no matter what Bioware/ME fanboy.

I played them all through several times.

Both as male and female Shep, different classes, and good, bad and a bit of both - all offered different experiences.

Definitely my favourite game series of all time.
