ME1: Best story
ME2: Best story telling
ME3: Best game play

Give me the story of ME1, the story telling and character depth of ME2 (which ME1 had but not as good as ME2) and gameplay (with more features - I want my Normandy Space battle) of ME3 and that game will be the best game ever made.

I'm way too in love with this series...

Nailed it there. Agree totally on the ME rankings

I remember when I discovered ME for the first time, I missed most side missions and missed romancing because I was just obsessed with stopping Saren that's how gripped I was with that story. Second time around took it much more slow and nearly explored everything. Only thing I haven't done in ME1 is kill Ashley over Kaiden. When my GF watched me play (she made all the choices) I made her kill him.

ME1 had Drew Karpyshyn as the lead writer. He also wrote some of the other great BioWare games KOTOR and Jade Empire. He was the main writer for all the lore and canon as well (he wrote 4 ME novels also).

He was then a co-lead writer on ME2, but then left BioWare and didn't work on ME3 at all.

Not surprising that the main stories became a bit worse with every game.

I read Mass Effect: Revelations which is about how Saren and Anderson met and it was a good read.

I blame EA. But ME3 was awesome until you decided to go to Earth. The entire final missions and things should have like the suicide mission. But instead of character picking to do tasks, you pick entire races that you picked up as War Assets.

This genre has always been a favourite of mine. From Epic & Wing Commander on Amiga\PC to battlefront and Mass Effect, love them all.

Would be cool to control space battles in ME4.

Damn all nostalgic now.. found epic on youtube :)

I still wish the Normandy could have been more involved in the big final battle at the end of ME3. Would have been so cool if they had made it like ME2's suicide squad where you had to decide roles/responsibilities - but instead of squad mates, using the war assets you collected.

Maybe ME4 will have more focus on space combat (given I think that reveal mentioned the ship would be upgradeable)?

Mass Effect 1 was one of the best games I'd ever played. 2 and 3 were great, but never really reached the level of the first.

New trailer doesn't reveal anything at all. Don't really feel the excitement for that.

I still can't choose my favourite. ME2 was the most flawless but had the worst story. ME1 and ME3 had better stories but had big gameplay and/or design flaws.

Mass Effect 2 is one of my favourite Xbox 360 games - cleaned up into a properly good shooting game, story structured like an oceans 11 style, putting an elite crew together type thing, the GLORIOUS renegade interruptions.

I usually play as a good guy, but renegade dickhead shepherd is just so much fun. I'll never forget the 'I've got nothing else to say to you!'/'How about goodbye?' exchange as long as I live.

Wouldn't mind replaying the trilogy, and would pay for a new remaster on the provision that is keeps a solid frame rate, does away with the dodgy texture pop in and includes all dlc. I have the base games on PS3, but the DLC cost is prohibitive.

As an aside, remember the controversy about GROSS lesbian sex in the first game? Seems like a different time looking back. Not only could you not even see any of the action, but Bioware had to make up that silly 'Liara isn't technically a girl' stuff to get away with it. Girls kissing girls is disgusting, but female shepard scissoring a hot alien with women rude bits is fine. Bizarre stuff.

Give me an Xbox One bundle with all the original trilogy remastered and all story DLC in and ME:A and I am all over it

If Mass Effect 1 was remastered for current-gen it would easily be my favourite game ever.

Best line in the trilogy for me. Too good. Also, laying out that reporter with punches. :D

IMO, these get less funny with each game but if you're bored, check out these videos (if you haven't already) have some of the best renegade moments from each game.

This. I was actually surprised they didn't announce a remastered trilogy packaged together - would have been perfect since Andromeda won't be coming out until next year. I've been holding off downloading/buying the Shore Leave DLC for ME3 - apparently its awesome and gives you a proper chance to see your beloved squad mates before the trilogy ended.

Yeah that'd be amazing. Would make me fork out the $500 for an Xbone

Not only that, it's like the creators went "We will never touch these characters again, let's have some fun". You should do yourself a favour and get it. Use it on a finished save file, save an alternative save before you start it and just keep going with it. It is so much fun and so much different dialogue in it. One of the better DLCs I've played

Yeah, all the feedback I've heard has been pretty glowing on it. I just don't want to buy it and then have it made available on PS4 a few months later haha. Maybe I'll have a look next time I'm on the PSN and see if its on sale...

Is that the Citadel DLC? If so it's definitely worth it.
