Will watch the trailer tonight after work but if the protagonist is going to be Shep again.

My far field bet would be - maybe after the Normandy is destroyed at the start of ME2, Cerberus have some of Shep's DNA on file and maybe in anticipation of the potential extermination of the human race by the reapers, send off a pod with a clone or something.

Doubt it. Would have to then establish one of the many relationships in game as canon. I imagine this being in the distant future from 1/2/3, when Shepard is a revered name, a legend among the species of the old galaxy, but in Andromeda presumably there will be entirely different species.

Perhaps the story will be of a colonisation war between the Milky Way and Andromeda, or a few adventurers (such as our character) exploring Andromeda.

shepard definitely isn't the protagonist.

"There is one thing we are absolutely sure of--there will be no more Shepard, and the trilogy is over" - 2012

pathfinder leak the by the name "ryder" appears- 2013

Be open-minded to a Mass Effect with no Shepard, It can be good." - 2014

confirmation of a new PC -N7 day stream 2014

"You will play a human, male or female, though that’s actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later)"- june 2015.

the name ryder appears on a dog tag on the teaser trailer - jun 2015

and of course the language in trailer you're going to watch tonight is all about shepard speaking to the protagonist and "signing off"

Watched the trailer last night and yep, looks like my theory has been debunked already. :p
 
I love the cutscenes (mostly) personally but they should have the option to skip them or have what you get in conversations where you can fast forward to the next bit of dialogue.
 
Rider/Ryder eh? Not bad if that's it - Commander Easy Rider has a nice ring to it. :p

The name combined with the trailer; seems like they are trying hard for a wild-west type of feel.

I watched the trailer again yesterday and I actually got that kind of vibe too. Leaving 'civiliisation' and venturing out into the unknown.

Possibly but how they explained the possible name in the article doesn't make me think that. "The inscribed word is supposed to be either Rider or Ryder as it is not exactly clear. BioWare honored the first American man in space, Alan Shepard by naming the previous protagonist as Commander Shepard. So there is a clear chance of ‘Rider’ being the next name as the first American woman in space was Sally Ride." The trailer on the other hand does have that kind of feel.
 
I think the wild west thing is just a bit of a gimmick for the trailer tbh.

Its just to get peoples attention (the music etc) because its a big juxtaposition with the sci-fi setting

Actually this reminds me of my renegade 'Geezer' Shepard. Was one of the oldest men in Citadel space and 'his heroic' leadership resulted in his whole squad being wiped out on the Suicide Mission. Ah memories... :D

As long as it is a complete and polished game when it is released.

The fact that we still have very little info regarding the game at all is very un-EA like.

i'm going to assume the US businesses qtr's are not based on the financial year, because aiming for a june launch seems like a big leap.
where as a November release means they could aim for an N7 day release, or at the very least some big arse announcement around that time.

I dont know how they worked out the quarters, but going by the quote it works out to be.

Q1 April-June
Q2 July-Sep
Q3 Oct-Dec
Q4 Jan-March

Mass Effect 2 was a Jan release i think, and 3 was March. They could have N7 day as the start of a BETA or something.
