Kind of O/T but can someone tell me when it became "hanger" insted of "specky"? I've just been pondering that recently.

there is a pic of it on pg 39 im todays HUN...... unfortunately they did not put the pic on the website for all to see.
he deffinitely had his knees on top of Johnsons head.... was a great grab

I think the term hanger referes to the player hanging in the air after the ball has been taken, where as specky is a term more used as a straight up and down grab on the shoulders of another

I asked because I've only heard hanger used in the last 3 or so years.

a Hanger..... is where a player jumps early for the ball & seems to hang in the air (or on the back or shoulders of another player) until the ball is caught.
a specky.... is basically all in one motion & alot quicker to complete the mark... no hang time so to speak ......

In my day (late 70s early 80s) we'd simply call them a JEZZA, and for the sake of this board that should be the operative term!

No eddie thats a "Hangar" (and it's Aeroplanes)....Hanger and speckie are the same thing .
