Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

Only 3 clangers. And as said above, first game with real game time in the midfield, and look what he does.

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

I dont get it.

First he couldnt find the ball and thus he was a spud even though he has been getting some decent amount of possessions. 29 tonight.

Now he can't kick the ball, yet he hit a target for most of the game until the last quarter.

He is actually progressing very well and Woosha is giving him more game time in the middle. One more solid pre-season and he should explode.

Well said Masten progress will be determined by his ability to get preseasons into him and to greatly improve his core and leg strength.

One thing I have noticed since his groin troubles is he has lost the ability to kick across his body.

In junior footy he was very good at this yet since his groin surgery I haven't once seen him even try to do that type of kick.

We all know he didn't do any legs weights this preseason so hopefully now with groin problems behind him this can improve in following seasons.

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

Happy with his progress, ultimatly he wont be a game breaker. But i beleive he can play a strong positive role within the team once he gets more time in the middle and a full preseason under his belt.

That's an insult to Chad Fletcher

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

Agree with OP was just called a clown for saying the same thing. Glad some people can see it even though others cant get past there man love for him.

I think he would be a good player in the long run but at the moment i dont agree with all the praise he recieves on this board.

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

He was good tonight, 29 touches, 3 tackles and 6 inside 50's. Missed a few targets including a goal he should have kicked, but nothing out of the ordinary compared to the rest of the team.

so that makes it alright then

He doesn't receive much praise! People have been bagging him out since we've drafted him and people defend him and suddenly that's praise? ****in ridiculous.

I think he can be a game-breaker. Black/Mitchell type game breaker.

He needs to get alot bigger so he can break tackles and back himself more. It will be a very interesting pre-season.

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

Yep a great waste of an early pick is Masten........

He is shit I thought he was about to turn a corner but has once again gone back to collecting easy behind the ball nothing possessions.

He could have had 50 touches and still done nothing.... he is not a damaging midfielder and unfortunatly never will be... just accept it I have.

Swift is a long way off with his disposal as well, and Eberts kicking for goal is shocking.
I thought we were looking good against the Cats but they must have had a bad day rather then us play well after watching that game.

BUT i did say this was going to happen, so thank god I tipped the tigers in the footy tipping comps.

Re: Masten = The New Chad Fletcher?

Needs to finish better.

Field kicks are very good. Just the running at full pace from 50 out and missing really pisses me off.

I'm looking at you Ebert, masten and McNamara.

I understand OP has a big impact on kicking power and length. Give them the benefit of a pre season to get stronger. (E & M that is) McN doesn't appear to have it. Mastens field kicking was good to very good.

On two occasions Masten did lacked poise under pressure (missed goal opportunities) to balance the account - give him a year for experience then judge him.
