[Better Loosen Up]

This season of Masterchef has been a real let down for me.

I remember watching the first week thinking that the standard had been raised from previous seasons and looking forward to seeing what the contestants could become.

I'm now watching it thinking that the standard from who we have left is pretty poor. It's the same old story, contestants with limited ability and range of skills/ competencies sticking to what they know. No imagination, limited food knowledge and plenty of failures.

It disappoints me that the competition is heavily weighted towards desserts (nearly every pressure test is a dessert of some sort). Give them a savoury dish of some sort with no recipe and watch most of them fail miserably.

A few episodes back, they had to each come up with a fine dining dish and I think it was Tim who did French Toast! WHAT? That said, none of the other contestants dishes could have been classified as fine dining either.

I get the feeling that the judges are having to help/ give recommendations to the contestants this year more than what they have in the past as well.

I'm honestly struggling to stay engaged at this point.

This is nothing against Tessa or Larissa or any of the top 5....

But look at the year Billie won..would any of these make the final 6? Very unlikely. That to me says how poor this year is

Larrissa to win. Out of the four I think she's the most likely to create a dish they haven't seen. Gosh I hope Simon doesn't reach the final. I'm not a fan of his style personally. Tessa should make the final, but it wouldn't shock me to see her go tonight or tomorrow, she doesn't need to win.

I think we are more than likely to see another Ice-cream or Panna cotta from Larissa rather than something new and creative. She is a massive one trick pony who just happens to be up against a bunch of very ordinary competitors.

It’s a pretty average year so making deserts is the smart play

Spoiler - she doesn't and, to make matters worse, ever since she's realised she's the judges' favourite, she has become insufferable to watch. If I were another contestant and she was telling me what to do from the gantry, I would turn around and tell her to STFU.

If I were another contestant and she was telling me what to do from the gantry, I would turn around and tell her to STFU.

If I was a contestant I reckon I'd hate all the talk from the gantry above. It would be bad enough having the judges come around and talk to you while under immense pressure, as well as having to explain everything to the camera crew.
Larissa is very annoying to watch, I'm a fan of Tessa though, hope she wins it.

I’ll give Larissa some credit there she did appologise for that “mate” comment on Instagram. Knew it wasn’t appropriate. I’ll cut her some slack we all make errors with our words sometimes

Okay not really a huge deal just not really appropriate for the situation. Tessa referring to Gary as "Gazza" in a different situation was okay

Yeah not a massive deal. Least she’s admitted it wasn’t great that’s all she can do.

well she can refer to him as 'mate' for as long as he isnt paying her to work in his restaurant.

speaking of which he seems to be a pretty popular guy at the moment, he has a lot of 'mates'

I thought it had finished by now. Are they still gagging over ice-cream? Is there anyone still left in who cooks things?

Must admit, at our place even the diehards have tuned out. It was getting very stale, and even without George's issues, it is time for a change. Hopefully one of the new judges is allergic to ice-cream.
