Poh, Justine and Tom all back for good.

What a joke, obviously ch10 wants these ratings to go on longer,

It's okay to let 1 back but 3 is going to far.

I was kind of ready for the show to wrap up.

I think the next challenge the contestants do where they cook for the navy, is where the eliminated contestant/s will be brought back in to the show.

I am not sure who will be brought back and how many also. If I had knowledge of it, I wouldn't reveal it on here, as it would spoil it for others. So I will put forward some guesses and logic.

IMO the reason that the reason the judges will give to bring the contestants back, are that the eliminated contestant was a good cook and that through no fault of them they were eliminated.

So I guess that rules out people like Trevor who chose the bait and Aaron who cooked a terrible meal etc.

I suppose that makes the likely candidates people like Brent(he was eliminated for strategy) and Poh(chose the wrong ingredient in the taste test but it was close to the real ingredient).

So my guesses for the eliminated contestants to come back are Brent, Poh and Tom.

Also could be Justine as she was unlucky to be eliminated in the Hong Kong challenge and she was a very good cook, and popular amongst the viewers.

Any other strong possibilities that I have missed?

Ah well, 2 out of 3 aint bad.

I can't believe that they didn't bring Brent back. He was a serious talent who was only eliminated because of strategy.

I don't really criticise twists in reality shows but this is pretty lame, adding three people to those four is pretty shit and unfair, those guys would be seething at having to go against the judges favourites again.

Sam in all his lameness I really hope he keeps scraping through to piss off C10's producers.

Justine and Poh back

I feel sick.

Saw they were the people coming back and turned of straight away.

If Poh Tom and Justine all get eliminated I will start watching again.

What's wrong with Justine?

I like Tom so I'm not fussed to see him back, but 3 people is too many.

I am not a huge fan of bringing eliminated contestants back. But if they are going to do it, they should bring them all back and have a really hard cook off for the remaining 1 or 2 spots. Just bringing back 3 tailor chosen contestants and throwing them straight back into the full competition makes it seem contrived. It is meant to be a true competition after all.

Not sure who will go tomorrow out of Sam and Tom. If it was a normal cook off, I would think Tom would win easily. Taste test, it is 50:50, could be anyone.Sam's luck has to run out sooner or later though so it could be him going. I hope not as it would be a little unfair for him to be eliminated whilst a returning eliminated contestant beats him.

Bloody oath, I'd be so pissed off if I was one of the 4, not even a cook off for 1 spot, all 3 are straight back in. And to top it off they have to indulge in editing shenanigans with Poh. ****ing show. I got sucked in thinking poh was definitely going to be in the bottom 2 but oh no poh. When she smiled as it was announced she was through I actually started physically reaching towards the tv to throttle her. Unbelievable.

Though seriously, who the **** thinks SOUP is a good idea for a full meal to our armed forces? When is SOUP EVER anything useful beyond an entree? Jesus, they are not on a 1000 calorie daily diet, they have to do things a little harder than lift a paint brush every now and then.

The judges are happy to criticise someone who serves 'normal' food during a fine dining event but are completely ignorant of a military kitchen and their basic energy requirements ensuring they pack enough in during a meal to last till the next one. Someone smarter than me could make a big deal about double standards and hypocrisy and all that.

I was thinking the same thing at the time. I don't have any knowledge of the military routine but you would think that people in the defense force would require something a bit more hearty than soup.

But then again, you could go up as many times you want and eat as many dishes, so I suppose they chose it on taste. I still was staggered that she got 24 votes though. I thought the moroccan dish looked heaps more appetising. Maybe it was a political decision and they were instructed to give Poh 20 votes or so. Who knows.

I'm not a fan of having contestants returning, but it was great to see both Justine and 'The Big Mos' return.

Wasn't so keen on seeing Poh, although she did look fetching in that naval uniform at the start. :D

I didn't see the final results (have seen heard who won and lost) or the judges comments, but from what i saw, a few people made silly calls given their target audience.

Sam's dish looked very amateurish because of the pasta he chose to/had to use.
If i'd been in his position and saw what pasta was avaliable, i'd have scrapped the idea.

Poh's choice was weird given her customers.
If you're cooking for sailors you'd be nuts to suggest they'd go for a soup, especially a potato and leek one, over a nice lasagne or some stunning lamb shanks.

I didn't see the final tallies, but i thought it was a great idea from both Andre and Justine to cook lasagne and lamb shanks, respectively.
Both dishes were obviously going to appeal to the customers given their homely, down to earth nature and heartiness.

After tonight's elimination there'll be 6 contestants left (with Julia and Lucas waiting in the wings) and by my reckoning we've only got just over two weeks left so it's going to be interesting to see how they wittle the group down next week.

Exhale, the final tallies off the top of my head was something like this(going from memory :o)

Justine - Lamb Shanks 75
Julie - Calamari and chips 30 something
Poh - Soup 24
Andre - Lasagne 20
Chris - Moroccan 15(plus 10 from commanding officer to give 25)
Tom - Chicken Curry 15
Sam - Pasta 6

Thanks TBFB, you're a star.

How did Poh move 24 serves of soup?

That's a massive victory for Justine.
Her dish did look great and it was always going to be popular amongst the sailors.

I didn't get to see Julie's final dish, but if done well it was bound to be popular.

I'm sure Chris and Tom's dishes were good (they looked it, during prep), but just weren't suited to the market they were catering for.

The less said about Sam the better.

The way it was done was that it was like a buffet, where the navy personnel would line up, and get their meal of choice. But they could come up as many times as they wanted, so many of the people had 2 or 3 course. So they got to choose sample a few of the dishes.

The votes done were by the navy personnel on who they thought was the best dish. So, in theory, they could eat Chris's and Justine's first and second, and then try Pohs soup last, and vote for Poh's because they liked her dish the best. The vote was done on favourite dish rather than quantity eaten.

It was a bit strange though. Dishes like the Lamb Shanks, Lasagne, Calamari, etc were having to be served again and again in the kitchen because they were so popular. Yet, Poh and Sam's dishes were hardly touched. No one wanted them. And yet Poh comes up with 24 votes at the end  Unless, there was a last minute mad rush for soup and they loved it, its a strange result. I was surprised with it I have to say.

I didn't get to see Julie's final dish, but if done well it was bound to be popular.

The chips were soggy & George bagged her for ignoring the classes where they taught her how to cook great chips. If the chips were better she would probably have got more votes.

Man, I cannot believe this show sold out and brought back existing contestents just to try and boost ratings and stretch the show out a bit longer.

It was already killing the ratings and has been going for so long, they could end it in a month and begin the 2nd season if they wanted. Then they could bring back anyone they wanted.

I for one will not be watching this show anymore, I did not watch last night, as soon as I heard they were bringing contestents back.

I am a big fan of fairness, and to pull that sort of bullshit in a competition with that much at stake is ridiculous.

And to hear stupid George's comments about how second chances are "Australian" what bullshit, this is a knockout competition and they are effectively playing favourites and not giving everyone a fair go, which is very un-Australian.

The Sam train wreck continues to roll on, another challenge and once again he brings up the rear with a pitiful pasta dish. FFS just put the useless prick out of his misery and eliminate him... he is as much a chef as Susan Boyle is a supermodel.

Was actually glad to see others come back into the show, especially Justine, mainly because they are all very good cooks and the equal of those left (Sam excepted of course).

I was very worried when they mentioned Aaron though, the one bloke throughout the entire series actually worse than Sam. That is some achievement!

If they were serious about the best cook winning then Justine had to come back as she is only matched by Chris in terms of talent and consistency. Andre is still pretty raw, but IMO has the most drive and his rapid improvement recently shows he is a quick learner. The winner should come from these three.

Julie, Tom, and Poh are all fairly good dinner party cooks but don't really have what it takes to win... and obviously the less said about Sam winning the better.

So you won't watch another episode, and won't comment in this thread again?

Pity, you missed a really good episode last night.

This sort of attitude makes me laugh though, naively assuming that a reality TV show exists for the sole reason of fairness and then spitting the dummy like a 2 year old when a common reality TV twist is introduced. You're funny. :thumbsu:

I am a fan of the best cook winning, and the inclusion of these contestants increases that probability. Anyone who thinks Sam deserves to be there more than Justine is not playing with a full deck.

I saw to the point where the sailors started queuing up, so didn't know they could try more than one dish.

The vote was done on favourite dish rather than quantity eaten.

Ah.

In the bit i saw they gave the impression it was judged purely on raw numbers moved, not votes.

It was a bit strange though. Dishes like the Lamb Shanks, Lasagne, Calamari, etc were having to be served again and again in the kitchen because they were so popular. Obviously i didn't see it, but i was shocked when i saw the results you posted saying that Poh finished third.

I cannot imagine her moving more than 5-10 dishes when you consider the clientele and their tastes and needs.

The chips were soggy & George bagged her for ignoring the classes where they taught her how to cook great chips. If the chips were better she would probably have got more votes.

Really? That's surprising.

I know the timing was difficult, but at this stage of the game i can't believe anyone would screw up chips.

Didn't mind seeing Justine and Tom back again but hated seeing Poh's annoying head again. Mind blowing that her soup that no one touched got 24 votes:rolleyes:

The lamb shanks and lasagne were always going to go down well as was Julie's squid and chips.

And even though I don't mind Chris I must admit I got a little enjoyment when he almost made the bottom 2 after being so cocky through the whole thing. The captain voting for his dish was all that saved him.
