So you won't watch another episode, and won't comment in this thread again?

Pity, you missed a really good episode last night.

This sort of attitude makes me laugh though, naively assuming that a reality TV show exists for the sole reason of fairness and then spitting the dummy like a 2 year old when a common reality TV twist is introduced. You're funny. :thumbsu:

I am a fan of the best cook winning, and the inclusion of these contestants increases that probability. Anyone who thinks Sam deserves to be there more than Justine is not playing with a full deck.

For starters I am not a fan of Reality TV, but found Master Chef to be very engrossing, especially as it had enough going on not to rely on 'common reality TV twists' to keep it exciting. You might be used to seeing these twists, designed to shock and stress the contestents and provide drama, but I felt the show had enough of that without the producers getting their grubby hands into it. They had struck gold with this show, and now they have tarnished it with cheap shock value tactics.

I too am a fan of the best cook winning, but just because Sam has been fortunate enough to dodge a few bullets, does not mean that every chef who has shown more than him should be welcomed back. They all lost a challenge in a knock out competition and have gone. Would you be happy for Geelong to get another crack at Hawthorn? they were after all a better football side.

I'm sorry my views are not the same as yours, you can call me naive and insult me all you want, but I have strong principals and a strong sense of fairness and I don't think I can watch this show without getting frustrated at the path it has taken.

It also increase the probability of someone undeserving winning (poh or Tom). What they should have done was have a pressure test between the 3 of them for 1 spot, I can't fathom why they didn't do this. That way you get the best of the rest and they don't have to pull any major dramas to eliminate probably about 4 people next week.

If one person did a roast, they would have won that one. Potato and Leek soup wasn't a bad idea, if it's a cold bastard of a day, that would be one thing i'd crave.

Agree on Sam's effort, that pasta looked slapped together by a sad mum. Surprised the captain didn't want to give the 10 inches, uh i mean votes to Justine (great ****).

Good to see there is no conflict of interest in the show.Probably the guy she is dating, has the job to count and tally the votes.

Poh is the contestant of all of them that I want to win least. For her, art is her passion, food is something just to divert some time. I would rather people like Chris, Andre, Julie etc win, who have a plan to open a restuarant, win it. As soon as Masterchef finishes, Poh will just go back to her art. It is a bit of a waste having her come back into the show.

Was very surprising to see all three back in the running. I originally thought that all three would have had to cook off for one spot.

Also, I'm not sure how Matt Preston can go around having a go at people for bad taste. Those shoes he wore at the start of last night's show were absolutely heinous.

Yep, and she's pretty much stated that as well, so why the judges think she's fit to come back in is a mystery. All she wants to do with her cooking is write a cookbook.

sought of interesting to hear chris change in tone with Sam coming back.

now that more people have come back it seems he wants Sam to stay as long as possible.

I get the impression that he and Andre are not overjoyed about the eliminated contestants coming back.

Just the feeling I get is that Chris and Andre have set their sights on winning the competition wheras Julie and Sam have probably lower expectations. So Julie and Sam are taking the returning contestants in their stride and part of the experience, wheras Andre and Chris are a bit dark on it, because it is extra competition.

I agreed with Chris's rationale though on being happy that Sam won. It would be a little unfair for Sam to be kicked out by an eliminated contestant straight away. It was probably the first time I was happy to see him win an elimination.

I feel a little sorry for Sam. He seems like a nice guy and he is trying hard. He is just out of his depth a little. At the start I thought he was up there with the best of them, but since then the other contestants have grown and developed wheras Sam has stagnated. He is still doing basic elementary errors(choosing food for wrong seasons) that you would expect the contestants to make in week one.

Simply because he and Andre know Sam is a complete dud and they have him covered easily. Justine is a real threat thus they don't want her back.

How ****ing stupid was Tom last night... both he and Poh gifted Sam life by choosing more obscure ingredients over remaining bleeding obvious ones.

Too right, I couldnt believe he took a punt on which herb might have been there, before trying a meat even if that was a punt also.

or cheese. Mince meat and cheese would have been in the first 5 or 6 ingredients I would have chosen, and I am complete dumbkopf on that type of dish. I cannot believe he went the herbs before mince and cheese.

Minced beef and minced veal were an absolute certainty.

Poh did the same thing by choosing what she thought was barley before bleeding obvious remaining ingredients like salt and pepper.

Not so sure there, I think the contestants were expected to name the type of cheese. Being an authentic Greek dish I doubt George's mum would have only used one type of cheese, so this may have been a slightly more difficult one than it seems.

Chris would rather Sam there because he knows he's not legitimate competition.

As for Sam, the guy has had more chances than Tom, Justine and Poh combined so going last night wouldn't have been unfair on him.

Full credit to him though, he's legitimately survived two cutthroat taste tests, which is a decent effort.

He does seem like a nice guy, but i don't feel sorry for him.

George Calombaris said that the reason Sam doesn't have the depth of knowledge of the others is because he's lazy and doesn't read enough.

If he was working as hard as everyone else and still struggling, i'd definitely have sympathy, but according to George he's just slacking off which garners no sympathy from me.

To be fair, in a dish with so many strong, deep flavours it's difficult to know exactly what type of mince was used, and given there ended up being two types of meat in it, they would have had to be specific.

If it was me, i would have gambled on lamb mince as i've found it to be the most common mince used in moussaka (at least in the moussaka i've eaten, anyway).

The cheese was somewhat similar in that they both (wrongly, in this case) assumed they would have to name the specific cheese, which obviously neither of them felt confident of doing.

They weren't expected to but they may have thought they would be asked the specific cheese.

For me Sam has replaced Aaron for comedic value.

Yep agree on both, I would have said lamb and probably pork mince as well. Most greek food I've had seems to use lamb. Sam was actually picking out far more likely ingredients than Tom with the exception of the meat and cheese for that reason.

I think we should all try and enter ourselves in the auditions for next years show. Exhale, Likka, Ian, Blackhart and all the rest, you should give it a go. Lets face it, we can't do any worse than the guy who specialised in serving road kill and left his hair in the dish. Would be interesting to go through the "process". Most of us would be kicked out straight away, but it would be an experience for sure. I am all fired up to do it.
