Because her and Poh cooked the worst cakes and one of them had to get booted and they chose her instead of Poh?

So they aren't manipulating the result then.
Thankyou.

its clear they want Julie to be in the final.

Its not clear to me.
Why would they prefer Julie over Justine ?

Justine ticked nearly every box as far as good television and appeal to key demographics is concerned.

It is hard to manipulate a result when the two of them cooked CLEARLY worse cakes than Chris and Julie.

Then why did they choose Poh over Justine ?

Are you seriously going to tell me that the producers would rather Poh in the final 3 over Justine.

You gotta love the tin foil hat brigade. :D

because Julie is the prototype that the most likely people to buy cook books will be, mums and a lot of people have said their parents have started watching the show because of her.

you think 20 year old guys who have a erection for Justine whose mums probaly do all the cooking for them are going to buy her cookbook, they will buy the magazine she strips in, but not a cookbook with pictures of food in it.

Haven't yet watched it but Julie making the final is surely a joke as she's hopeless.

Poh even though she's annoying as ,is quite good and deserves to be there. If Julie wins over Poh something is seriously wrong.

LOL - you're just making stuff up now. Mums were already watching Masterchef and to say they will only buy her cookbooks is pretty insulting to them really.
How the f**k do guys like Bill Granger, Matt Moran, Jamie Oliver sell any of their cookbooks - according to tin foil hat theory you have to be a stay at home mum to sell to the stay at home mums.

You must be 20yo.

Justine was incredibly popular on the show - look at the official forums and in other places. On the Vogue forums for instance (a place generally populated by females) she was easily the most popular contestant there. EASILY.

If you think the producers would rather have Julie or Poh on the show than Justine then you have rocks in your head.

And if you can't answer that question properly, the whole conspiracy theory just becomes a joke.
By the way - Justine won't be in any Ralph, FHM or Zoo shoot so sorry to disappoint.

How she didnt get the chop when Lucas did when she served milk like custard on and undercooked base with no edges asstounded me.

She got more points for her main. The judges didn't like EITHER of Lucas's dishes.

Crappy as it is, whenever she has stuffed up somebody else has stuffed up worse.

As I said, you can see the judges awarding points for presentation and taste. Taste is worth more than presentation. Julie has not been inspiring but she has ground out some passable efforts when others have collapsed.

Chris collapsed on all dishes last night. The judges were devastated and Julie KNEW she was in by the skin of her teeth.

If Julie wins over Poh something is seriously wrong.
It is Poh's to lose now.

My tip: Poh to win then disappear, Julie to pick up a book deal from Donna Hay and outsell Poh 3 to 1, Julie to go on morning shows and ready steady cook, Chris to start and fail at his restaurant (most do and he has no experience).

What is it with the younger generation these days Chief trying to see shadows that aren't there ?

her section is the 4th most popular.

nice one :o

but lucky for her she will have people on the vogue forums buying her cookbook.

Agree with that.

Plus Justine to quietly go about her apprenticeship under the leading chefs in Australia (making an occasional appearance on television or magazines)and eventually becoming a celebrity chef in her own right in 5-10 years time.

Do you have any idea how big the Vogue Forums are ?

4th most popular is massive considering she was away from the show for 2-3 weeks. Plus Julie and Poh have had some 100 messages sent to them each in the last 24 hours.

You're not going well at this.

and whats with you replying to every post with "the tin foil brigade"

pretty lame yourself

Thats the standard name for people who believe in ridiculous conspiracy theories.

well you have her instantly locked in to be a celebrity chef.

time will tell....

I disagree. Poh is the cookbook's wet dream. She can combine it with her art. She is already reasonably successful and good artist and this will sky rocket her notoriety. I would suggest this would have been in the back of the producer's mind's from the start.

For the conspiracy theorists out there - Chris's business associate is allegedly purchasing a building in Melbourne or Sydney.

Could it be that the "not being a commercial cook" part of the competition was under threat?

FWIW:

Justine would do very well underneath someone. ;) (I mean as a sous chef for you dirty minds out there)

Julie has improved 1000%. Her kids will be able to eat when she goes home. Would fit in well with a pub-style countermeal/family restaurant feel.

Chris will run a successful 'name' restaurant, focusing on the beer/meat combo.

Poh might be able to do some semi-professional catering - "event" cake-making especially (weddings, etc). She wouldn't survive in a restaurant.

Andre could go either way. I think he could be stifled in a commercial environment - but don't think he has 'it' to get a restaurant underway.
=====
But the point we're all now realising - it's not about who's the best chef. That doesn't matter, and it's not what this show is about. It's all about the cookbook.

Sam, for all his faults had a following which 'could' transend into a following - be it TV or cookbooks.
Chris - really comes accross as an 'experience' rather than a 'follow'. His cookbooks would only be purchased by good cooks looking to extend themselves.
Justine - Has the personality for TV. It's where I expect her to be very soon.
Poh - I can't see her doing media work, I CAN see her doing a series of amazing photography-based dessert cookbooks (which no-one can ever get to look like the photo).

In that regard, Julie's homestyle cooking appeals to the masses - they would - in general - be simpler dishes, easier to assemble/cook, use less ingredients, which could be (mostly) found at supermarkets.

With this 'new' (to me) aspect of looking at what the winner actually gets....perhaps it explains why Julie (and previously Sam) both went so well despite apparent failings?

Julie is a 'recipe' cook more than any of the others. I wonder if her 'recipe-book' will in fact be ghost-written by others, with her face/comments/photos merely added to cash in on the 'marketing'.

I've probably seen about half of the episodes, but got caught up in it over the last month or so.

Correct she has way too much class to do that crap. While Julia was my favorite female contestant,Justine wasn't too far behind. For a girl so good looking she is not stuck up at all and has zero attitude unlike that air head who got eliminated early.

I get what you're saying but don't know if some of Poh's recipes will have mass market appeal.
Will definitely sell units to the high end cooking market though.

As Donna Hay said, her book would appeal internationally as well.

Can see both sides really.

sorry? I worked there 15 years ago as a kid whilst at high school, but left as a manager when I was at uni. Haven't worked in one for probably 10 years.

Or did I miss something?

Chris didn't collapse on all dishes they were merely average but his were complete and he plated them up reasonably well. Lucas was pretty much the same when he was eliminated. Julie's effort last night wasn't passable either in food preparation terms or presentation.
