Tennis Masters Cup is on again from Shanghai, for the best 8 singles and 8 doubles teams in the world. Nadal isnt playing though, which has meant a slight restructring of the draw

The groupings are

GOLD GROUP

Novak Djokovic
Nikolay Davydenko
Juan Martin Del Potro
Jo-Wilfred Tsonga

RED GROUP

Roger Federer
Andy Murray
Andy Roddick
Gilles Simon

So far Andy Roddick is the only mid-tournament casualty, his replacement for his second game was Radek Stepanek.

Current standings

Djokovic 2 wins
Del Potro 1 win
Davydenko 1 win
Tsonga 0 wins

Murray 2 wins
Federer 1 win
Simon 1 win
Stepanek/Roddick 0 wins

Del Potro and Davydenko meet in the last round of games in the gold group, with the winner advancing. In the red group, Federer needs to beat Murray to advance, with Simon most likely being able to defeat Stepanek. If that happens, it will come down to sets and games to determine the top two from the red group...

Del Potro is going to smash Davydenko tonight, I can see Tsonga troubling Djokovic, although its line-ball at this stage.

Would love to see a Del Potro Vs Murray final, would be fitting consider those two and Tsonga have been the break-through players of 2008

Tsonga three in a row against Djokovic, disappointing that he couldn't make the semi's

Still a pretty stunning 12 months for him, even with the injury troubles. I have a sneaking suspicion that if you had offered him a GS final, a Masters Series win in his home country and a Shanghai place at the start of the year your arm would have been ripped off. Top seven in the world and France's top-ranked player now.

im not on the bandwagon, i just want whoever plays davydenko to beat him

an annoying little weasel thats always around the top but will never be on top

Anyone watch Federer-Murray last night? I watched from when Murray was 5-2 up in the second set; what a game of tennis!

YES!!!!!!!!

Davydenko bt Murray 75 62

Djokovic beat Simon in a tight 3 setter, so the 2008 Masters Cup final is Djokovic vs Davydenko.

CARN DAVYDENKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This would literally make my year.

Murray gets punished for not throwing his match against Fed, which he didn't need to win.

Djokovic throws that last set against Tsonga and comes out on top.

Round Robin sucks.

Hopefully tennis wins tomorrow but I ain't counting on it.

Agreed Nikolay is a superstar- and the hate for him is just a little misplaced. Watch the way he tore Murray apart last night- it was impressive- and he may be the one to topple Nadal now.
BTW i've been on the Davydenko bandwagon for a while- absolute superstar.

Superstar? Give me a break. Once he actually does something at a Grand Slam then I will take notice.
Yeah because Grand Slams is the be all and end all of a tennis player. Davydenko has reached semi-finals 4 times. Miroslav Mecir, Marcelo Rios, David Nalbandian, prefer to rate them as tennis players over Roddick, Johansson, Cash, etc if you get what I'm saying.

Davydenko is an absolutely fantastic player and any fan should recognise this when they see him on song.

I cant stand when the crowd yells between points and when someone is serving

IMHO if that happens then the point should be replayed

Come on it gives the match a greater feel in my opinion. Crowd interaction adds to the spectacle. Did you watch the Women's season ending championships in Doha last week? You hardly ever heard the crowd and it made the tennis not as interesting to watch. There should be more yelling and cheering to be honest. If there was none, you wouldn't have got that sooky reaction from Djoker. Sometimes you have to laugh when he cracks the sads like that.

But, he played awesome today and was a well deserved season ending champion. He choked up a bit there at 5-4 serving for the match, but regained his composure and pulled out a great return game at 5-5 and some excellent serving there in the last game.

It is going to be a very interesting season next year. I can see four different number 1 players throughout the year. Tennis is back, we have had the domination of Fed era and now we have a few guns who are all gunning for number 1. I suspect Roger will get back to number 1, but depending on results, I think Murray could get to number 1 by the time the Indian Wells/Miami tournaments finish up in March.

And to the Davydenko supporters, what a surprise, he fell over in a big match again.

Players probably don't even hear it anyway, they are too fixed on concentrating on the point and playing tennis. That's what I feel like anyway, I don't really hear anyone when I'm in an intense battle when I'm playing.

not the biggest fan of djokovic but he played extremely well tonite, i havent seem him play like that since earlier this year

Have to agree with the hatred of Davydenko, has almost no appeal. I was surprised he defeated Murray - history will show that he generally loses those big matches quite convincingly. He will never win a slam, or probably make a final for that matter. I'm tipping JMDP to win the Aussie Open at this stage, will hit the gym over the break and come back with even more fire power.
