Interesting that Gulbis played for the Vics and batted at 8 and didn't bowl, was he meant to bowl? Seems odd he'd be played as a specialist bat that low down

That is why Ch9 chucked a hissy. Did CA a favour (not just with the domestic OD's) and CA didn't return it by giving them the BBL rights.
BBL rights were already decided. The OD comp was orphaned because of it, CA re-jiggled into this format and played for the production costs to get it on screen. C9 gave them air time. There's nothing in it. C9 don't cover every single OD game, have never done so. A few miss out. This season there's a bit more missing out, probably because it's been played over 3 states now

Nevill's batting has gone to shite. Can't see him lasting the Summer in the Australian team. His glovework isn't good enough to keep him in the side considering how woeful his batting is.

Yep, out Nevill, in Wade. Should be a done deal.

Wade 2 yrs younger than Nevill.
Nevill Test batting average 20.0, with 2 fifties.
Wade Test batting average 34.6, with 3 fifties, 2 centuries.
End of.

Good couple of overs for the Redbacks. Hopefully we can keep them to under 220 now.

Whitemans list A batting average of 20.7, with no centuries?
He isn't a chance.
Wade's our man.

Wade is not a test match quality Keeper and shouldn't be in the side unless his keeping is very very good for 90 overs day in day out.

Lets blood a young keeper.

Whiteman should be in the ODI and T20I sides

He wasn't even in the Scorcher side last season from memory. I don't really think you can dispute Wade is the best option for short form cricket. And to be honest, I'd probably take him over Nevill at the moment.

IIRC he was injured

You don't get a gig just cause your young and got "potential". Whiteman's proved nothing yet. If not Wade It'd be Nevill or Paine.

I think it's more important to develop your next test keeper in those formats by giving them a taste of international cricket.

The only way to groom a future test Keeper/Batsman is through shield cricket. Keeping to the white ball is like batting to the white ball, it doesn't move around so there's no challenge. That's why players like Finch, Bailey and Maxwell will never be test batsmen. Wade's done the shield apprenticeship.
