Everywhere.

Funnily enough, similar to last years game. Cats bolted in the first out to a rough 30 pt lead. Free flowing run through the middle gave the Cats first run at the footy. Hawkins was dominant, though delivery was outstanding.

Then the rut set in, Swans got on top in the middle of the ground and the Cats really struggled. Lead superbly from Leo Barry at the back they nearly got in front at one stage, if it wasn't for poor kicking on goal.

Same said for the Cats in the third, where from about the 12th minute in the second to 3 mins left in the third kicked about 1 goal 10pts. How they remained in front shows the unbelievable talent we have at the back.

The last quarter revealed a lot about the Cats, namely Gary Ablett. Kicked 3 himself and had a hand in a few others. Geelong ran rampant halfway through the term and put the game on ice.

Swans really have to have a look what they intend to do with O'loughlin, I think didn't have a kick until the last quarter. If he had another it wasn't noticed. Is he turning into Sydney's Fraser?

Swans though have a good band of young guys who really tried hard. Ling kept Goodes quiet for most of the game. Umpires definitely did your lot a favour, worth a goal or two today, some really poor decisions against the home side.

That's about it.

Just to add a little more;

The game was a game of two halves (but not quite). Geelong were their typically free flowing selves in the first and fourth quarters. Sydney looked completely outclassed those quarters but they locked Geelong's game down in second and third quarters although our inaccuracy in front of goal didn't help (we actually had kicked 1.12 before Bartel kick on our only goal for the 3rd term). We barely got much run through the corridor and were forced wide often. We also got smashed in the centre clearances (2nd and 3rd quarters only) like we did against the Saints the week before.

What is kind of becoming clear is that with Blake and West, and I'm not knocking the guys here because they are still learning the trade, we have probably one of the worst ruck duo's in the competition. Not enough hit outs to advantage and not enough presence around the ground. Ottens will obviously change that. It's a testament to our midfield and defence that they do so well under pressure.

Apart from Ablett and Bartel, Ling did well to keep Goodes to 15 possies. Mooney is still a little out of form. He really needs to work on his set shots(I think he's 7.14 for the year). Stevie J is back to his form of last year after a slow start. Stokes was once again fantastic. Prismall was quiet in the first half but got some of the ball in the second.

It's pleasing to see that the boys can soak up the pressure for a half and then put the afterburners on.

Thanks for the report. Watched the game on Fox this morning and we definitely smashed those swannies in the last.
