Look forward to your match reports - coverage in Sydney is zero.
Melbourne played very well today and we cant take that fact out of any analysis of the game. Their tall players dominated ours and we really struggled to have any influence on the game.
Neitz and co got them off to a great start in the first q and we were never really in it from then on.

Might detail a bit more later on

Sorry I didn't go either.
Was Croft underdone? Was Kritter carrying an injury?

Garlick and Eagleton?

I understand that 7 years of Wallace can't change in one preseason, but we should be at the very least competitive!
Are the senior guys showing any leadership?

How does an under sized CHB get BOG?

Croft was OK. Started at full forward and didn't look like getting a touch but the ball was mostly in Melbournes forward line. Went onto Neitz after quarter time but the damage had already been done. Neitz had 4 in the first quarter (2 on Bassett, 2 on Kritter) and got another 3 on Croft.

Kritter did a hammy in 2nd.

Garlick practically hadn't touched it up to 3/4 time. Got two goals in junk time.

Eagleton and Alvey can't play in the same side - one has to go and Alvey is better than Eagleton (but not by much).

The leadership group were OK. West, Smith and Johnson got plenty of the ball, Brown presented well and would have kicked a bag if he could kick straight (but that's another thread in itself). Darcy got clobbered.

Murphy was our best player, initially tagging Yze and then attacking. He seemed to play in half a dozen positions.

Robbins was good and Bowden faded in and out a bit but was OK.

Guido couldn't get near it until half time but his 2nd half was good.

Rather than our leaders letting us down it was everyone else. A lot of guys did not contribute at all.

Hahn started in a back pocket on Bruce but had no influence.

Bandy just about played his worst game for the club.

Bassett is too small for full back, too slow for anywhere else. I'd rather Harris. No intensity.

Power played on Robertson after Kretiuk got hurt (WTF????) obviously a learning thing.

Wiggins was a waste of a spot in the side. Did not contest a ball.

McMahon did very little. Missed twice on the run from 50.

Hargrave initially got slaughtered by Robertson before getting slaughtered by Green. Had a shocker.

Dimma ran hard and wasn't disgraced.

The dogs were just disgraceful today, hardly any positives at all.

My only highlight was watching Murphy put on a flawless display around the ground, no doubt he is a gun player.

The lowlights were many:

Hargrave had no idea today, should be dropped.
Eagleton and Wiggins showed that they are much maligned for a reason or three, both should be dropped until they string some BOGs for Werribee.
Bandy showed why Fremantle lost patience with him, maybe he is better suited to triathlons, his footy today was embarrasing. He dropped easy marks, disposal was atrocious, didn't contest.
He will only be saved by our lack of height.
Dimattina although tried very hard, really turned the ball over too many times.
I reckon I had more influence on the game than Garlick, enough said.
Darcy played a shocker, had little influence. His contesting was inept.

Major overhall is required this week, we can't afford to have so many passengers in the team. Rohde must stamp his authority now, the team is playing like wooden spooners.

Those who can hold their heads high are :
Murphy - Played a blinder
Brown - Worked hard and marked well, if only he could improve his set shots.
Johnson - Poor start, but made up for it.
Bowden - Did well showed poise, I had my doubts on him but I believe he is worth persevering with.
Smith - Ran hard attacked and defended well.
Robbins - Solid game showed desperation and discipline.
West - Usual reliable game, didn't have much help in the middle.

Melbourne played Ok but we really handed them the game on a silver platter.

TIME FOR HARD DECISIONS.

Just watched the replay (3/4) on foxtel and thought we only lost the game at the start. Catch up footy and good in patches afterwards.

Again everyone was saying preseason, we may need to go backwards a little, take a look at ourselves in order to go forwards.

Hargrave- poor and weak at the start. Unless it’s a straight swap for McGuiness would persevere

Power - not his fault, playing too deep in defence. Again Harris would have been the better option.

Bowden - presented himself well. Needs to continue this. Can he play FF?

Murphy - the only guy that improved this year!

The number of soft free to Melbourne inside 50 was laughable.

3 talls up forward - what ever happened to this idea???? Worked well in preseason and stops the opposition crowding their forward line with talls.

Colonial/Telstra Dome - Why can't we win there? We even tried to recruit especially for this place. Did they get it all wrong?

White Boots/Blonde Tips - just shows that the players need to worry less about their appearances and more about their games.
