Yep. Performing really well too.

He got one goal from a free kick, but it was his excellent positioning that caused it, one snap goal, and two goals where he marked it on the lead 45 to 50 metres out and simply slotted the goal like it was nothing.

Corey Warner playing the typical HHF role of doing 5 things in 5 minutes then not being seen for 10 minutes but man he looks good

All of the fringe guys like Warner Jr, Sheldrick, Adams, Hanily, Mitchell etc. have had a few nice touches.

And I suppose it's a good thing that most of our best players either haven't really gone up a gear yet or are not out there at all.

I thought Mitchell good. Hannily, Amartey, Will, Warner, McInerney, Gulden, Campbell, Wicks, Matty Roberts. Mids have all been good. Ollie great. Rowie doing what Rowie does. Corey Warner has also been good. Paton seems to be doing very well.

Wow I wonder what our forward line looks like with Campbell and Papley together. Put Heeney, Will, Campbell, Papley, Amartey, McCartin together and I think you have a very strong line up. Replace either McCartin or Amartey with McDonald and you have extra strength. Warner replaces Heeney.

The mids are strong. Rowie, Heeney, Warner, Sheldrick, Mitchell, Gulden, McInerney, Hannily all good.

GWS have no interest in defending the corridor it seems. Which you'd think would leave the door open for the likes of Warner & Blakey to run rampant, but it seems they're more focused on defensive acts and one percenters today, which has been great to see. A few of Warner's smothers have been awesome.

How is the cupboard bare when we have two key backs injured and almost ready to come back and two on the bench? I think he is trying Blakey out as a key. I don't happen to think it will work. No matter how many times you try Blakey there, his lack of bulk and defensive awareness is going to be a key factor. He left Cadman alone 25 metres from goal on a slow play mid way through the quarter.

Melly is smothering Hogan. Wicks is doing a really good job on Toby. Playing off him and getting plenty too. Toby has never been big on defensive efforts, only when he sees a goal in it.

What I'm pleased about is the cohesion. There all on the same track. The ability to get forwards free and the mids using the ball well. It is a scrappy game, which is normal in preseason games but we are winning the scrap. That is a huge improvement on last year when we were ordinary in contested ball. Today, we are killing them at contested footy.

Early yet. Hope to see Francis, Hamling, Paps, Foxy etc in the next half or 6 periods

Campbell has kicked 4. this is what I was talking about when saying he needs to be played forward. He is not a back or wing. Forward/mid is his best role. This is what happens when you play players in their preferred positions

Longmire never met a young player he did not want to stick at half back or half forward, especially if they were not really suited for that position.

Amartey simply looks a lot fitter.

Talent has never been his issue, but he is running out the quarters well currently and actually putting in repeat efforts.

a couple of minor comments about some of our genuine fringe players

sheldrick wants to barrel through everything - unfortunatelynas he does so he gives away high contact frees because if there is a guy in his way he just runs into them
corey warner has a lot of potential - hes able to get it and find space and close space down - if his decision making was just 10% better he will have an enormous amount to offer
like to see a bit more of hanily - its been a bit of a day for tall forwards - theres been less pressure on the kicker coming through the midfield so the kicks have often been deep inside 50
mitchell is a little like warner - if he was 10% faster so he could elude the first tackler hed be a pretty good player

Not surprising as he isn't an inside player, never has been. Unfair to play him there.
