It's a trial game guys. It's also sport. You don't always win. We were playing against a good side that took their opportunities when they came.

As for Craig's coaching; I haven't had any problems with his match day coaching but lets remember that he is on a learning curve as well.

Exactly. I think Cragy will learn alot from the loss and move on. I would rather lose now and learn from it then lose when the real stuff starts.

I agree with this. I also don't understand why he felt the need to mention Maric, Knights and VB as other youngsters who were panicy on Sat night. If he's stressing development of youngsters as his primary focus then why publically embarrass them when he didn't need to. Not a good night all round for Craigy.

I don't think it's an embarrassing thing to say that a couple of his younger players were a bit panicy. It sends them the message that they can be rightly critisized and not always praised when they do the wrong thing.
Just putting their name in lights when all is rosey is a path to a big fall when they do get a roasting in the future.

They along with the leading group who all have in sometime during their career and especially when they were young were critisized.
Why should these youngsters be any different?

Fair call but personally I didn't think it needed to be said.

I don't agree with you here Springy. One of the things he has been on about from the start is that the players need to learn to deal with then scrutiny they receive in the press. If these guys are going to go on & play a lot of footy, they are going to get beaten on occasions as well.

Dont like this Port Power mentality that is creeping in. One loss in a PS game and we start slagging off our coach. Have some faith. Not that he has to but he had the curtisy to explain why he left Jericho on the ground. This is enough for me. He saw what was going on out there, it wasnt like he was just ignoring it. He left him out there to test him and see what he did. Try a few things. This is what its all about. Furthermore who needs the prize money more us or them? They were playing for everything we were still experimenting.

I would hate to see how some people on this site cope with criticism out in the real world, they must go to water everytime. IMO Craigy had a bad night, end of story. It hasn't changed my opinion of him.

Fair Call but I think the Crows cop enough pressure from the media without the need to create it from within.

I just dont understand how you can clarify it a bad night when he intentionally left Jericho on the ground even though he was aware he was failing. He was experimenting to see what Jericho's reaction was going to be. A great player would have over come it. He was testing him/experimenting.... Criticism is fine. I am just critisising your judgement of the game

Fair enough mate, that's your perrogative too. I think we better move on from Sat night.

Just didnt appreciate your original comment. Especially considering my point of view varied from yours and you made a comment about some people(indicating me) not being able to handle critisism. Anyway I am now ready to move on ;)

I actually think Craig has been a good match day coach overall since he has taken over. Sure he has made some blunder - but name me a coach who hasn't! Hopefully he learns from his mistakes. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Let's not go getting all self rightous here mate. Your original comment implied that those that criticise are Port Power like.

After one game is my point. Last week we were flying now people start having a go at the coach. Sorry but I dont agree with that

Spot spot spot on.

I was wondering if someone else was going to say it before I got to the end of the thread. Its his second year as a head coach. With what he has shown thus far I'd sign him up for a 5 year contract right now. (what is he on btw? I have no idea.) He'll get better as well and I haven't seen too much to concern me just yet anyway!!!

At last a response to the question rather than how dare anyone mention the coach. No-one is untouchable and to question one aspect of an overall very good coach is hardly rubbishing the guy - its like saying player A is a great footballer but he needs to work on his goal kicking.

When you think about some of the crap he got from some people (including this board) when he was appointed, to say he could improve his matchday tactics is pretty mild.

Craigy's not been a good match day coach since he started with us.
however, I think we all agree that he brings many other things to the table, and that has well and truly out weighed any other negatives.

Why would we think our coach, any coach, would excel in every area? that's not realistic.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread from March, but did it to prove that the matter is not being discussed for the first time just because of the Richmond game nor is everyone jumping on board all of a sudden like sheep. Whether the concerns are valid or not, they are not new.
