Supposedly everyone gets 3 for their entire life and are normally only used for big deals eg. need help moving a body... and if you use one on a mate they have to accept etc etc.

So the OP is sitting around with some friends and someone pipes up and covers 2 things

- mate cards

- body disposal.

I'd be asking questions why your friend may need your help to dispose of a body rather than if they're going to be asking for cards.

Just to be clear, I used the "body disposal" example to illustrate the fact that they are used for "big deals",and the topic of body disposal did not come up in the conversation . The actual example used to describe it to me was "If you got some chick pregnant and needed $1000 to get rid of the baby, they would have to loan you the $1000". Also in case you are all wondering only one of the guys (apparently the only three in the universe who had heard of the concept ) had actually 'used a card' and that was for a lift (It was a really long drive) although he would not disclose why he needed the lift...
