Hate to be a pedant as well, but it's actually 'Mathew' Stokes (one T). Easy mistake to make. Play on.

Good posting in this thread. He had a tendency to drift in and out of matches, not really showing enough intensity and so forth last season. He has come out with renewed vigour this year. Obviously he understands that his place is up for grabs and has reacted accordingly. Good to see.

Also of note that is quite happy to take responsibility for having a shot at goal - something some of our players still don't always look to do when they should!

I have been a massive critic but he has made some adjustments

The thing that really used to bug me was he went to ground very easily, then took quite a long time to pick himself off the ground and get going again

Yesterday? Straight back up and runnning. It was great to see

Chris Scott has clearly made a difference as players like Stokes, Lonergan and even Joel Corey and Milburn seem to be making positive adjustments even at this late stage of their careers which is a sign of good coaching

Pretty accurate summation. I've been very critical, but I thought he was excellent on Saturday. A few poor kicks early on, plus one where he should have spotted Hawkins in the goalsquare, but after that tremendous. Good to see some accurate conversion in front of goal too.

I had him in my " in decline " category. So glad to be proven wrong - so far he has been rejuvenated and doing all the team things. Conversion around goals a huge plus.

His workrate has not been good enough the last few years partly due to injury maybe. Might be a fresh start with a new coach, might be clean bill of health I don't know. Either way he's playing great footy.

he's very Steven Milne-like, quite unorthodox yet will usually win a one on one contest 7 times out of 10. A terrific shot for goal anywhere inside 50 and still learning the game and improving. He's definitely going to get respect against Collingwood on Friday night

I was watching the 2007 GF on Fox last night.

He had a pretty good outing that afternoon, especially after he looked like he'd totally busted a knee early on.

he seems like a good bloke footy aside they interviewed him after the game on K Rock.they asked him if his role changed in the team he said yeah with gazz leaving,thanks gazz he and trav would spend time in the middle.and said bundy was a pretty good looking bloke,but he might have to cut his hair cause he could be stealing votes of him.

Glad to hear that Stokes is a better player this year. Perhaps he is in better shape, and/or trying harder under the new coach.

Not sure why several posters are complaining that others have been negative about him in recent times. If he´s good this year - great! He has been ordinary in the last few years however.
