Not really, Natman. Broady had plenty of fans here when he wasn't getting a game under Choco. It was last year, when he became a regular and appeared to be coasting a little, that he came under some fire.

Maybe his neighbor Tyson Edwards can take some of the credit too.

Bit late here, but was Choco really saying that Broadbent didn't have the talent to ever be in the top 30 players at the club, or was he saying that he wasn't in the top 30 at the time.

Big difference.

Its like if I said "well Ah Chee isn't in the best 30 players at our club at the moment" I mean... its true. Not a nice thing to say I suppose, but who knows...

I thought Choco was saying at that time he wasn't in the best 30. With the players being selected I would still argue that comment, but he was a young fella, so he could have been correct, even though way to boost a guys confidence

It could have been Choco's way of firing Matty up... Either way, seems a bit strange to bring it up the way people do. I highly doubt Mark Williams couldn't see the talent that Broadbent has, he did kind of coach a football club and all :p

First he has breakout games, then he has to deal with the extra attention. He still has a lot of work ahead of him.

But he's looking great at the moment.
thats excatly right. No one knows how he will cope with the pressure of a tagger or a better run with player.

We should find out a bit more now Boaks out

Broady's got a page in this week's record, getting some attention, not sure if this is a good or bad thing....

Good that his blistering form is getting some recognition, bad that with Boak out he might get some attention from the opposition

I don't why but he reminds me of josh fracou not the way he plays just the way he looks and his mannerisms ......

Maybe it's the balding head at a young age

Broadbent and Lower are the type of players that Choco has never been able to develop and continually tried to trade for.

The question wrt Choco and the 6'2" type of player is more about the ability to recognise and develop that type of talent from under his nose or was it a case of the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.

Choco was great in extracting/encouraging flair from talented players.

All quite true. At the same time I think hes shown enough that even if he isnt in our best 8 players in a couple of years time, he should at least be in the 9-16 best, which is handy enough given the depths were climbing out of.

One thing for sure is that he CAN bust a game open. :)

give him full season
20 games only 20 yrs ffs
but yes, big fan, but he isnt running with the ball, just 1-2 with it, and we have 4 of them
considering he doesnt actually get in there and get it, i am questioning where he will contribute
maybe its the role he is playing, but yeah i want to see more too
give him the season
IF he comes good he will be our best mid.

MB will come good and be recognized as our best midfielder in 10 years.
This year he will be our B&F and top Brownlow scorer.
Next year he will make the AA 40, the year after be competition top 8 midfielder

I am salivating at the prospect.

Broadbent reminds me of Jobe Watson, not in the way he plays but rather didn't get the greatest run with Choco, worked hard and may have been gifted a few games in 2011, got a dear friend and both worked hard together, 2012 after all his hard work was his break out year, the following preseason uninterrupted and looking noticeably bigger... 4 years time Brownlow medalist?

I believe Broadbent could become a top level player in the AFL. His size, build and kick are his strength.

Speed and endurance can always improve especially under our new training programs.

I am looking forward to seeing him take it to another level in 2013.

Most of his work goes unsung by the supporters IMO.

Normally when we do votes for a game it's a top 5. If it was a top 10 Broady would have a bucket load of votes.

Pretty consistent player in terms of possessions. Most of the time is in the 15-25 area. (Averages about 19 touches this season)

Edit: Completely forgot that he used to be a forward flanker. The move back has done him well.

Nice move by Kenny to put him in the middle in the second half against Freo . With his smarts and great kicking he's probably a bit of an untapped midfield resource this year that we can call on to change things up .
