A PREMIERSHIP captain and leading AFL commentator says the footy world is finally waking up to Matt Crouch’s superstar qualities after his dramatic rise to All-Australian contender in a record-breaking season.

Revered former Geelong captain Cameron Ling admits the Victorian-centric footy bubble has been slow to acknowledge just how good the younger Crouch brother is after he broke the Crows’ club record for disposals this year.
In racking up 45 disposals in Sunday’s loss to West Coast, Matt took his season average to 33 which surpassed inaugural captain Chris McDermott’s 32.7 set in 1992.

“It’s not like he’s not rated because Matty Crouch is a terrific player but now there is more conversation around Matty Crouch being better than just ‘oh yeah he’s a good player and gets heaps of the footy’ - this bloke is a gun,” said Ling who now works for Channel 7. “And (brother) Brad is starting to get that continuity into his game, but he’s going to be a gun when he’s got three or four seasons consistently under his belt, he’s very good now and you can only see him getting better.”
And this just for the Wabbit

NTRabbit

“He gets heaps of the footy but he is so clever with his ball use, short little hit-up kicks in traffic, his hands are good, he creates and brings others into the game - he’s a gun, an absolute gun.

Just embrace it Rabbit. If you just come out and say "yeah he has progressed more than I thought he would, and he has really addressed the short comings I saw in him" then you can avoid being tagged in to every Matt Crouch thead for the next 10 years.
This is excellent advice.

To be fair, the Age havent even written an article about it yet either. Its like because a big time Vic player like Dusty or Danger didnt win it they couldnt even be fagged to write something about it.
Didn't want to influence the AA selection panel?;)

How many supporters can believe that after Matt's great early season form he was going to be relegated to the 2's upon his return from a week off for personal reasons. He was selected in the 2's for the St Kilda game in round 11 last year despite averaging at least 25 disposals to that point in time. Looking back, if not for the forced rest of another player, how different could Matt's career with us have been. Thank Christ common sense prevailed at least for that game and Matt was given the spot he richly deserved and other players were ultimately punted from the midfield to make way for the returning player.

******* gun. What has impressed me is his improvement in his kicking and decision making under pressure. Used to be a bang it on the boot guy but he just hits up targets so efficiently now. He is bloody strong too and seems to have added more agility and a yard of pace since he got drafted. A more damaging Matt Priddis.

Ball magnet..
