Given Geelong will have only late draft picks should we get Ottens, Matt Egan has gotta be worth using any pick over 40 we have on. Was fantastic in VFL all year and would be a better backup to Scarlett and Harley than Sam Hunt or Luke Livingston who may be possibly looked at as trades for Spriggs. What do others think?

Couldnt agree more nananana, Ego has been fantastic all year in the VFL and was unlucky not to finish Top 3 in the VFL B&F. He is a big strong bloke who has plenty of run and is a good left foot kick. I would definitely use a late pick to pick him up!! SHOULD be Rookie Listed, we dont want to let another one get away like Matty Jovanovic!

Didnt see alot of VFL this year but his stats sound impressive. What size is Sam Hunt as a matter of interest?

Essendon site has him listed at 21 yrs old, 192cm, 87kg

Thanks. Seems Egan would be a better choice as he knows the place already. A shade taller and heavier too.

Just off FootyDraft.com:

Matthew Egan

Details:
Club: Oak Park/Geelong (VFL)
DOB: 7 October 1983 [EDIT: I belive he's DOB is 1981 though] Hgt: 194cm Wgt: 98kg
Position: Full Back
Natural Foot: Right

Honours:
Full Back in VFL Team of the Year 2004

Strengths: Egan had an excellent season in defence for the Geelong VFL side, and was rewarded with Full Back in the VFL team of the year. Matthew has a background in tennis, but handled some of the best goalkickers in the VFL very well this year.

He is disciplined, very strong one-on-one and usually makes good decisions.

Weaknesses: Tends to be more of a negating player rather than creating a lot out of defence. Not much scope for improvement.

Footydraft.com comment: Clubs that are looking for a ready made defender late in the draft could do a lot worse than Egan. Geelong VFL coach Ron Watt is a big fan of his, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Cats take him with their final selection.

He went to school with James Kelly and was in the same year level, don't know about the date of birth but.
