Anyone else notice the remark made on tv that Matt Egan could not kick when picked up by Geelong (he came from the VFLside, I think) - an exaggeration but the point was that he had set out to master this skill and had done so - now one of the League's most reliable. Implication was that Moons should look into it.

That article epitomises what is so great about the Cats. A bunch of low key guys who seem really likeable and who love playing hard, tough footy. Thanks for the link.

Thanks Barrabas.
I hate the Age football but I'll read about our new star!!
Cheers

One of my favourite players, amazing how far he's come in just a few years. Kelly gets kudos points for bringing Matty to the club.

I thought they were talking about Porplyzia

He seemed to be referring to Mooney's wayward kicking then replay of Matthew Egan and I assumed that was who he meant - that is often the trouble with television commentary - they forget the visual and prattle on filling air space - I thought he was talking about Egan and it seemed strange, though I knew he had come from a strong tennis background. I try to watch replays since often I want to know who had the ball if it is an opposition player or why a free has been paid such as the one against Ling - when it's hard to see at the match - and too often it's irrelevant and confusing chatter.

Egan is easily one of the most improved players of the year, and I think alot of people underestimate how important he has been to geelongs winning streak. Not only does he do an awesome job on a top forward week in and week out, but his improvement as a player has allowed Scarlet a bit more flexibility when creating run through the midfield.

i can recall a conversation i had in 2002 or 3 with michael turner and he said back then that geelong" had a better full back than scarlett coming through" and was he right , egan is a rock down back and has devoloped into one of the if not the best defender in the land ......

not to mentoin putting the role of CHB on Harley who I hate to admit, isnt as good as the player he used to be. Egan is a great quality CHB, one of the top 5 in the comp which is good considering it only his third year.

Fantastic read about a fantastic player. He needs a few more solid weeks and a huge finish by keeping J.Brown to a goal or less and it would be hard for the All Australia Selectors to not slot him into CHB or atleast the pine.

Great Work Matty!
