People never seem to see middle ground on the internet.

I dislike the personal attacks on Priddis, keep the venting towards the selectors.
Copout

Look if you want to defend priddis kudos to you as you are entitled to your opinion.

But nobody here had made any personal attacks on him.
He's a great bloke, clearly helped us lift our image as a nice football club for players to want to stay at and sponsors to stay on board.
Nobody has attacked his personality or his religious beliefs or his charitable work or his character.

We have highlighted deficiencies in his football that are clearly affecting our team.

Those aren't personal attacks.

And if he's a great club man he would retire as he should clearly know that the game has gone past him like glass did.

To me it's not about making anyone a "whipping boy", it's about improving the team and getting rid of the players that aren't going to help us win our next premiership. Priddis has always been a liability defensively (as soon as the ball is out in the open) but now he's a liability in just about every other area of the game as well. The team needs to wake up to this and start playing and developing young guys for our next flag tilt.If we don't do this and keep playing the "whipping boy/s" for the rest of this year and next it's going to be a decade before we're challenging again.

To be fair we have been transitioning guys out.

Emac, Schofield, Butler, Masten, Hill, Wellingham, Redden, Hutchings and Giles have all been dropped on form through out the year and replaced with youth or new draftees. Lecras is now out and unknown to continue beyond this year. If it wasn't for injuries Venables, Rioli and Watson would be playing. Even someone like Waterman could have pushed for a debut over Darling if he was playing. Priddis to me is the final piece of the puzzle. Get him out and we are well on the way to rejuvenating the team for next year.

We have been transitioning players out and Priddis seems to now spend less and less time at the centre bounce now .

Our whole midfield has deficiecies and miss the influence of NicNat .

We have a long way to go before our midfield can match our forward and backline capabilities .

They haven't been transitioned out though, just shuffled in and out of the team. We're horrible at giving young guys an extended run in the team to develop, Karpany has played pretty well when given a game, in and out of the team like a yo-yo, Mutimer gets a few games being played out of position and then he's gone, Nelson last year despite showing a fair bit was also in and out with no rhyme or reason. I have no doubts that the GOAT Cole, will be displaced in the next week or so and back playing in the WAFL. We are currently the worst team in the league at developing young players, the absolute worst.

To the detriment of the team and because he's a shadow of his former self.

Karpany was an emergency the last 2 times so didn't deserve to be selected on merit. When the injured guys came back he was out. Also his WAFL form has been ok not great. He has a chance now to make a HF position his own.
Nelson IMO was overrated by most on here last year. He gave up goals and didn't get much of the ball so I think was rightfully dropped. This year he has been a lot better.
Cole was upgraded off one half decent game so you cant say he has been hard done by. I dont see him being dropped as the club seems to rate him similar to Duggan.
Mutimer as you say was played out of position but he was given a month. Quality wise he is probably down the pecking order a bit so would be hard for him to get a full time midfield gig atm.

Our poor development has been a combination of being in contention, average quality youth and injuries to the ones that are quality.

It's this kind of thinking by our match committee that's contributed to us having the worst youth development in the league. I don't care that Karpany's form has been ok in the WAFL, when he's played AFL he's been good and should have been given a 5 or 6 game stint in the senior team to develop his game. And I wholeheartedly disagree on Nelson last year, he's about the only one who actually seemed to play with intent in most of the games he played in and young guys are going to make mistakes every now and then, that's how they learn and develop.

Buck stops with Simpson IMO!
Simmo would be apart of the discussion about who gets a new contract or not, no doubt but it stops with Priddis. No one is holding a gun to his head saying "sign on the line below, please" Priddis himself, should have said we'll wait to see what my form has been like at the completetion of the season And then refused a contract. So, no it doesn't stop with Simmo, it stops with Priddis.

keep the venting towards the selectors.
The selectors are soft on him, but again, as above it's on Priddis to put his hand up and say I'm not fit or not in form. But he continues to put his hand up to play instead.

Been pretty widely reported (admittedly, not from official channels) that it was a trigger from his previous contract, not him actually signing on a dotted line mid-season.

How many guys have dropped themselves in the past? Seriously, how many players have been reported as walking into the coach's office and said "look my form is shithouse, I should be playing reserves". I can only remember Jack Watts doing it a few years ago, and he was then criticised for not being desperate enough to play senior footy.

Those guys that are saying "but they've been transitioning guys in and out of the side" as if it's pointing to them fixing the midfield are missing the point. The problem with our midfield is Priddis, dropping everyone around him is just re-arranging the chairs on the titanic, which is something we are experts at. Until Priddis goes, the issue won't even begin to be sorted.

Kill 2 birds with one stone. Put Redden in the guts for a few weeks. Can not possibly offer less than Priddis and we already know he can't play the outside mid/HFF rotation. If he can't make the grade then at least we know not to offer another contract to him.
Priddis out and Redden with a gun to his head - WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?!?!?!!!! :D:thumbsu:
