I think we need a bigger block of data to have enough evidence that we are better without priddis . Keep him out for another month .

I did notice we didn't have that Priddis overlap through the corridor yesterday . The one where they effectively have a spare because priddis man was not being covered .

I did like the centre square combos of 3 of shuey mitchell sheed and Yeo .

If Priddis walks back in next week its a joke. I have always been pretty supportive of him, but I am a realist and father time has well and truly caught him. Why make our midfield worse when it functioned so well yesterday against a fast running side? Yes he's been a great servant, but even great servants run out of time.
I think Priddis should just be back-up in case of injury - let him just play in the 2s with the occasional game @ AFL when required. Don't get me wrong I have nothing but admiration for Priddis for his past achievements, but as others have said Father Time has caught up with him. If his lack of form has been due to injury well let him earn his place by finding form in the 2s. No good just picking him on potential and loyalty. No man/player is bigger than the game.

Surely today was a message to the coaching staff. Smashed one of the best contested teams in the comp in the middle without Pridda.

The guy has been an absolute Warrior and deserves every plaudit given but he's cooked, just can't keep pace with the modern game.
This is what happens when players are reaching the end of their playing days - can remember Jacko saying that your mind says one thing, but your body no longer obeys! This was the reason Jacko retired when he did.

Nobody likes seeing a loyal servant who has played some decent footy along the way decline and look a shadow of his former self out there.. see, e.g., Brad Johnson, Adam Selwood, Andrew Embley... retire on a high (or the highest you can retire on).

I enjoyed that game of footy yesterday.

Very few helicopter bombs.
No plodding players
All our players chased
Redden lace put passed to the forwards
Yeo running through the centre and away from stoppages
No turtle tackled
Very few burned team mates.

Wish we didn't have to put up with this rubbish from priddis since 2008.

Do we look better without priddis? You bet
Would we have been better without priddis for the last 9 years. You bet.
Would we play finals this year without him. You bet.

He is single handedly the biggest anchor on our playing list right now. The biggest "wtf do we do because he's been a loyal servant of the club" pressure on selection we have along with Lecras.

Jakovich and Cox saw it and called it.

Do the same priddis and stop being a selfish player. The game has moved past your limited talents and let others move this club forward.

You've done your job giving us back the nice guy image.

I haven't solely blamed Priddis for anything, you're making stuff up again, which you seem to do on a regular basis.
Like I said he was very good in 2015/16 (but not that great in 2014 imo), that doesn't change the fact that I believe he has some severe limitations to his game. We have based virtually our entire midfield strategy around him being at the drop of the ball at stoppages, it's been a mistake imo and has held our midfield back.
Did he hold our midfield back in 2015? If not, then why are we ignoring his best season?

Blaming the club for playing Priddis is the exact same as blaming Priddis himself.

As I've said 100 times, his 2015 was good. The issue was and has been building a midfield strategy based around such a limited player. The results speak for themselves, despite having one of the best spines in the league we haven't won a premiership in that time. Now that's not Priddis' fault, but it sure as hell is the clubs fault, one for building a midfield around Priddis and two, for making some poor recruitment/draft decisions over the last 6 or 7 years. I don't blame Priddis for having the limitations he does (although in saying that you'd have thought he could have improved his kicking some over the years), I admire him for getting as much out of himself as he has and having such a long career. I do however blame the club for not being able to do anything to improve our midfield over the years.

You keep repeating "we built out entire midfield strategy around Priddis" as an ironclad fact, as opposed to it actually being something that you just completely made up.

I guess you don't watch enough WCE games to know that Nicnat would tap down to Matt 9/10.

Well the ironclad fact is he's the only midfielder that's been there since 2007.

We've burned through a lot of midfielders through the last ten years.

So "built around him" sounds like a correct statement to me.

If I'm in a recruiting meeting every year I would imagine the consistent comment would be "we don't need another inside midfielder we have priddis, maybe get one for backup in case he's injured. But let's get others around him"

Wouldn't that be a logical assertion to make?

A player that nicnat taps down to almost all the time. "The extractor" - whos only job is to extract. That cant play anywhere else on the ground. A player that when people point out doest chase - his defenders say it isnt his role.

His role was to distribute nn taps.

Nope no midfield built around that.

In 2013 Priddis had 149 clearances out of a total 865 for the club.
In 2014 Priddis had 147 clearances out of a total 850 for the club.
In 2015 Priddis had 183 clearances out of a total 998 for the club.
In 2016 Priddis had 148 clearances out of a total 860 for the club.

Call me crazy, but I would think that a player who's receiving almost every tap from one of the AFL's top ruckmen would be doing better than like 15 percent of all his side's clearances. Hell, in 2016 Shuey had more clearances than Priddis.

And great job identifying what Priddis' role was. Next thing you're going to tell me that Gaff's role is to play outside midfielder and move the ball down the wings. You've really stumbled onto the revolutionary concept of players being given a role by their coaches.

You don't get a clearance for diving on top of the ball and being tackled

Think you're being a bit harsh there as think Priddis had a pretty decent 2015/2016. Sure he has his limitations but what he did well, he did very very well. Unfortunately this year he has dropped off quite considerably - whether it's due to age or injuries who knows. Still find it hard to get understand as to why the Club extended his contract before years end as he could sustain a career ending injury between now and then.

He's an extremely poor footballer who never had the required elite football physical attributes and skills certainly to justify being so non-droppable and unaccountable as he was/is. Nor did he even try or was able to develop them over the journey too. Eg. his kicking. I get giving him credit as a team man, playing for the jumper for many years. But lamenting over a footballer who sadly has to give it away because his body can't do it anymore, no.

Our midfield was shit, got smashed regularly. He plays 100% midfield - but no, it's everyone else's fault or course. PURELY BECAUSE he got 30+ good for nothing stats. Add that to what has been said already, seems clear to me our midfield revolved or was built around him.

It's like he's riding shotgun on the old cowboy wagon, the only one with the gun.. he's firing away all over the place missing all the 'politically correct name for Indians". The wagon gets destroyed from flaming arrows and burns to the ground him still sitting on top of the ashes. But its not his fault is it. He fired all the bullets, is still alive. Must be the only one who tried - yep you keep riding shotgun boy.
