Last night it was said the 3rd person questioned Misfud as why he didnt punch Rendell in the mouth?

Now we here the 3rd person walked in half way through the conversation...

I take out of that, Misfud was not initially offended, Matt didnt sense it and he is no dill.

Therefore the 3rd person who took offence wasn't even in the room for the full conversation.. Great basis to sack someone on... Especially since there was no recording and it was all from memory.....

MISFUD WHERE ARE YOU!! IF YOU HAVE MADE A MISTAKE ADMIT IT!!
I don't want to hear from him now. He'd just be toeing the company line. Vlad would have made sure of it.

As I said in another thread, on Footy Confidential he showed himself to be a quality person, (coming across much better than AD). His forced resignation was hasty and far too harsh. At the most he should have been suspended pending an investigation, an apology and counselling.

I have emailed the AFC stating this and urging them to take him back. To their credit they did reply straight away (in a general fashion). I urge everyone to do the same and perhaps we can force a change in heart within Club.

Also, although it is beyond my skills, it may be worthwhile to initiate a 'Get Matt Back' champagne via the social network sites.

Three questions guys, apologies if this has been covered already - if anybody can answer them I'd be appreciative (Macca23 i'm looking at you mate :) )

1. Who was the other AFL official in the room with Rendell and Mifsud?

2. Did Cornes and Rowe ask Trigg why he didn't let Rendell face the media? If so what was Trigg's response?

3. What did Trigg mean by welfare? Will the remainder of Rendell's contract be paid out? He resigned which leads me to believe it won't.

Perhaps a #ReinstateRendell hash tag for Twitter?

It's been 14 hours since Rendell told his story last night and I am in no way shape or form less angry than I was last night. This is PATHETIC!

I was due to go to the Season Launch tonight but I am seriously considering not going. I just cannot support the club that has displayed severe lack of integrity in dealing with one of the employees who has been integral in recruiting some of the most exciting young talent in the AFL. The man who has put in countless hours assisting with various football programs dedicated to assist youngsters from the Indigenous community achieve their footballing dream and at the same time integrate into general community.

I am disgusted with the way this has been handled and I really feel for Matthew Rendell. I sincerely hope Matthew gets to read this board and realise that he has the full support of majority of the AFC supporters, members and followers. The actions of my club have been gutless and severely lacking in integrity.

I cannot begin to express how disappointed I am and how ashamed I am to be associated with a club that is currently led by people who lack leadership, integrity and loyalty. The sort of characteristics we all look for in our player and people involved in the club.

Go, and tell them exactly how you feel.

Was he?? Trigg says he was, but this was definitely Trigg's worst public performance ever IMO.

Grant Thomas said he spoke to Mifsud yesterday and was told that he wasn't offended by Rendell's comments.

Rendell said he wasn't aware that Mifsud was offended, and that he had spoken to him since that day and they were still friends.

It seems to have taken 6 weeks for Mifsud to have become offended. Curiously enough at the same time that Demetriou became aware of it.

Also, did Mifsud say to Rendell that he was offended?? I'll bet he didn't because Matty would have apologised to his mate if he did, and none of this would have happened.

In life, nearly everybody becomes offended at some time or other, and the norm is that the offending party apologises and both move on, not carry on until the other person is sacked.

IMO Rendell has had a nice number done on him by Mifsud, Demetriou and Trigg.

Trigg came out very poorly out of this. He stated categorically that he knows that Rendell isn't a racist, yet he effectively sacked him on the grounds of racism.

Weak as piss, Triggy, weak as piss.

Trigg said that the club would do everything it could to help Rendell and his family through this. What bullshit!! He can never take away the fact that in the public arena Rendell was ostracised with racist overtones, forced to resign, thereby taking away his reputation and earning capacity.

Trigg tried to imply that there was a lot more in it than we aware of. If so, why hasn't anybody mentioned it before and why again did it take 6 weeks for Mifsud to become offended??

You would have been better off shutting up Trigg and saying nothing. All you have done is infuriate me more with your insipid performance today that revealed no more than that the club did not stand by its man, nor did it try to achieve conciliation to achieve an acceptable result for all parties.

This is a big black cloud over the management of the AFC. I hope that they are suitably ashamed.

Well said Macca, well said.......

Hmmm who to believe... Grant Thomas who has known Mifsud for over 20 years, worked with him, is friends with him, spoke with him about it where he said he wasn't offended by the comments or Trigg who seemingly has no attachment to Mifsud yet claims he somehow knows he was offended by Rendell's comments. If that doesn't reek of a Vlad cover up then I'll eat my ****in hat

1. Forgotten his name. Works for the AFL in the area of Community Welfare or some such area.

2. Not in those terms Pete. They did ask why it wasn't done is a less rushed manner to enable talks and conciliation etc. Trigg said it couldn't be because stigma would stick to the club if not dealt with immediately.

3. Trigg was floundering here. He said they would help with counselling for the family and mumbled about in other ways without being definitive. Really wanted to avoid this IMO. Perhaps an odd brown paper bag or two?? ;)

Yeah, it's a good thing Trigg dealt with this quickly otherwise it might've got out of hand...

There is another possibility that won't be popular here.

Some people do not like to be confontational. Especially from certain cultures - I am studying a course that involves cultural sensitivity and we are often told that some people give answers they think you want to hear.

I can just imagine Rendell calling Misfud ...
"You weren't offended were you mate?"
"No mate" (not wishing to confront, when in reality he was.)

Maybe Misfud and the other guy were actually upset but Matt was too thick-skinned to pick up that he had caused offense. Matt is not the most sensitive person around.

Misfud might have sat on it for so long because he did not want to get his mate in hot water.

There is no doubt that from his interview last night that Matt was sincere but it looks to me that there were some very crossed wires. Misfud and co were offended but did not want to make waves. This is what Triggy seems to be saying.

Now maybe Misfud is going to cop a lot of flack for this but that leads me to another thing I have been taught. Don't blame the victim.

Could Mifsud have told Trigg he was offended? Is that why he might have thought that?

1. According to Carro (if I heard correctly) that's the guy who blew the whistle. Are we to believe that?

2. Surely that was the most important question of all. Rendell said he wanted to speak but wasn't allowed, Demetriou said he was offered the chance to speak but thumbed his nose at it. Now this is the part that REALLY stinks.

The fact that Thomas is stating that Misfud wasn't offended and the official word is that Misfud WAS offended also stinks Pete

Why did it take Misfud 2 months to be so offended, it went public?

Vlad has had a word to Misfud, guaranteed and to that 3rd party, something along the lines of wanting to keep their jobs, lets spill these beans..... and **** Matty right off where he can't hang shit on his babies....

So the question then has to be - why? What possible motivation does Vlad have to bring this out into the public arena? What motivation is there to see this man hung drawn and quartered without the right of reply? And if Mifsud is a good mate (which I believe he is), wouldn't he have had a quiet word with Rendell first?

To silence everyone else. By doing this, Vlad will have a bunch of yes men to live in their make believe world that all is ok within the AFL and indigneous drafting

Its like during the more savage times in history, people that were hanged by a dictatorship were left there to hang as a reminder to toe the line for the rest

Leading through fear
