If they were as offended as Tigg is saying they were, why the **** did it take 2 months for the comments to come back to the AFC.
It's all a load of bullshit and a lot of ass covering going on here. Its so manufactured it's PATHETIC!
Vlad is behind this 100%. Rendells crime is being mates with Grant Thomas and Mark Robinson, and in speaking his mind on GWS

Can someone create a thread on Trigg's interview with the main points for those of us who missed it?
Either Vlad has got to Misfud and has told him to tell the press he was offended

Couldn't agree more, either Trigg is covering his ass or he is being fed some blatant lies by AFL HQ.

On the bright side for Rendell, going by this comment:
Rendell said he would remain friends with Mifsud and hinted at a desire to leave football.
"I probably made a mistake in staying (with the Crows) ... in fact, I'm sure I made a mistake. I should have just gone and done something else," he said.
he probably wasnt that bothered about having to resign.
This is an extreme view I know, but right at the start of this I wondered whether he might be someone who'd had enough and couldnt resign so got himself fired instead, people do that you know.....
It also seemed like with the size of the recruiting team we've built up over the last few years we were preparing for life after him as well, probably came a couple of years sooner than we expected but...

When Trigg say "It is the industry we work in" he is talking about the power "City Hall" weilds.
Stand up to him and say goodbye to any extra funding, a decent draw and maybe even funding of Adelaide Oval.
All this because some guy was offended by something his mate said, whilst coming up with a solution to a problem the AFL, and that bloke running to Vlad with it.
Is this Mifaud bloke offended because Rendell has pointed out the AFL is failing at retaining such players or personally because of his family background?

Pretty poor form to mention that they've stuck by Matt a few times in the past. The implication being he's troubled or has caused trouble in some way previously. Yeah that never happens in any other work place does it Triggy. There was no need to mention it in public just to make yourself feel less guilty about hanging Matt out to dry now.

The tragedy is that any problems relating to indigenous retention and other "sensitive" matters are less likely to be adequately addressed now, because everybody will be too scared to talk about them, lest they (as MR said last night) get a word in the wrong place.

I am speculating here, but I wonder if Trigg was so disinclined to go into bat for Rendell, because Matt did, indeed, deliberately include our club in that infamous quotation. Even if he was talking in hypotheticals, he chose to include Adelaide because he might actually believe we'd adopt a policy like that in the future.
If Rendell is to be believed on how we handled Milera, then it certainly seems like we don't have a lot of patience with young aboriginal footballers who are struggling to make the transition. Can anyone really see us picking up a bloke like Jurrah? We rarely ever take risks like that. We've made it known that we prefer squeaky clean academic types. Maybe Rendell would like us to be more open to drafting aboriginal players from rural areas, but the club has been against the idea, and took Rendell's comments as an attack on them. Rendell certainly seems as if he's been dissatisfied at our club for a while now - perhaps this was why.

Definitely on the front foot from the start of the segment with an obviously well rehearsed line of defense. He is trying to increase the level of Rendell's offense as much as possible to cover his and the AFL's actions. He's tried his hardest to make him look like a yokel with a "colourful language" problem.
It's all about the sensitivities of the 2 accusers and the Integrity of the AFC ahead of all else.
Cornsey had some good questions and went on the attack towards the end but Trigg did not take the bait instead toeing the AFC comes first before all Line.

Now we here the 3rd person walked in half way through the conversation...
I take out of that, Misfud was not initially offended, Matt didnt sense it and he is no dill.

From memory Trigg said:
- That he first found out about Rendell's comments last Wednesday.
- Mifsud and his offsider were supposedly both quite offended by the quoted comment from Matt and other parts of the conversation.
- Cornes asked how Rendell could not have recognised it if that was the case. Trigg couldn't explain it. Seemed to suggest that this was a misunderstanding on Matt's part.
- Was asked how it took 6 weeks for this to come to light if they were so offended. Managed to get to the end of the interview without answering that.
- Mentioned specifically that the reports about Mifsud and his man being offended came from the AFL
- Claimed that he wasn't told to sack Rendell and that it was the AFC's call.
- When asked why the AFC didn't stand by their staffer on this he disgracefully blurted out that they'd stood by Matt in the past, intimating that he's caused some sorts of concerns previously.
- Various pieces of bullshit corporate type speak about protecting our identity etc.
Was he?? Trigg says he was, but this was definitely Trigg's worst public performance ever IMO.
Grant Thomas said he spoke to Mifsud yesterday and was told that he wasn't offended by Rendell's comments.
Rendell said he wasn't aware that Mifsud was offended, and that he had spoken to him since that day and they were still friends.
It seems to have taken 6 weeks for Mifsud to have become offended. Curiously enough at the same time that Demetriou became aware of it.
Also, did Mifsud say to Rendell that he was offended?? I'll bet he didn't because Matty would have apologised to his mate if he did, and none of this would have happened.
In life, nearly everybody becomes offended at some time or other, and the norm is that the offending party apologises and both move on, not carry on until the other person is sacked.
IMO Rendell has had a nice number done on him by Mifsud, Demetriou and Trigg.
Trigg came out very poorly out of this. He stated categorically that he knows that Rendell isn't a racist, yet he effectively sacked him on the grounds of racism.
Weak as piss, Triggy, weak as piss.
Trigg said that the club would do everything it could to help Rendell and his family through this. What bullshit!! He can never take away the fact that in the public arena Rendell was ostracised with racist overtones, forced to resign, thereby taking away his reputation and earning capacity.
Trigg tried to imply that there was a lot more in it than we aware of. If so, why hasn't anybody mentioned it before and why again did it take 6 weeks for Mifsud to become offended??
You would have been better off shutting up Trigg and saying nothing. All you have done is infuriate me more with your insipid performance today that revealed no more than that the club did not stand by its man, nor did it try to achieve conciliation to achieve an acceptable result for all parties.
This is a big black cloud over the management of the AFC. I hope that they are suitably ashamed.
