Damien Barrett on TFS said that Davey wanted to urgently have a mediation session with Mifsud. He even rang him constantly yesterday and last night trying to have it last night, but Mifsud never returned his calls.

Barrett went on to say that Davey and the Melbourne FC were under the impression that the mediation session was set for today. However when confirming it with the AFL they were told that there was no such meeting scheduled, and that Mifsud was having time off with his family.

Davey was then told that a meeting would be set for next week. Not today, not tomorrow but next week, making it at least a week after Mifsud had been sprung for spreading a false racist accusation.

Quite rightly, the Footy Show panelists found this unacceptable as obviously the sooner these matters are reconciled the better. Unresolved they just fester on and if anything become worse.

Once again it is Mifsud who makes himself unavailable - just as he did with Rendell. It certainly brings the moral fibre of this man into question - causes a heap of speculation, angst and grief and disappears rather than being conciliatory or accountable.

IMO he is not fit to hold the office that he does and has set the credibility of that role into an unacceptable position while he holds it. Nobody of any colour creed or race will want to deal with a man that cries foul and runs to the media rather than resolve it with the relevant party.

Demetriou is a hypocrite IMO for applying double standards in recent weeks and he shouldn't have accepted Mifsud's resignation - he should have sacked him first for bringing the AFL into disrepute.

I personally have no respect whatsoever for Mifsud and IMO the only honourable thing he can do is to vacate his role instantly - with or without Demetriou's blessing.

Mifsud must go!!

Cheers mate.

Did same add anything thing note worthy?

I presume that same is Big fella talk for Sam?? Yes?? :D

Sam had a real crack at the AFL for its handling of the situation, particularly the handling of the effective sacking of Rendell but Lyon and Brayshaw wouldn't have a bar of it that Dimwitriou had anything to do with it. Craig sacked Rendell without being told to by Dimwit.

Sam poopooed that and criticized the AFL for its double standards in the handling of the 2 situations. Sudden death for 1 guy but life and oodles of time for the other.

Sam was the only one who had the balls to be critical of the AFL other than the total consensus that Davey should have been given his conciliation meeting ASAP with Mifsud, not made to hang around for a week before Mifsud deigns to have it.

How did (Neil) Craig get involved in unedifying saga?:)

Agree with this in full.

The way things have panned out over the last few weeks between his odd tweeting and this latest fiasco, I've really lost any sympathy I may have had for Mifsud. He really has brought the AFL into disrepute and whatever comes his way he has brought upon himself - nothing personal, he's just demonstrated (again) that he isn't fit to hold this position.

It really sounds like Vlad is putting heavy pressure on sections of the media too, with Lyon towing the AFL line by an announcement on FC last Monday night "clarifying" that they (the AFL) had nothing to do with Rendell's forced resignation, something he stressed again tonight when Sam began to fire up on the topic. I'd love it if the media rebelled and fueled a campaign to have him removed.

Gary sounds absolutely pathestic on this issue. He actually looks genuinely scared whenever the topic of Demetriou's role in Rendell's 'sacking' is discussed.

Agree with almost all of that. The only coutner I will make is that Gerrard Whately stronlgy defended Misfud's contribution to the AFL last night and Andrew McLeod has also defended him. Howewever I agree his position is untenable as he has acted completely inappropriatley.

Demetriou on the other hand has blood all over his hands on this and the Rendell incident. Its very poor management at best and at worst he has been mendacious and deceitful.

Its a bloody shocking mess, that nonone will benefit from.

Gary Lyon is a weak, fence sitting, overrated sasquatch....

So spineless on any issue, not just this one..

Greatest thing he did was give Stynes a couple months of his time when the poor guy was on his last legs....

Funny thing - was talking to a friend yesterday that is not a huge football nut - and is a trusted senior manager - and he said Vlad is like one of those CEO's that has outlasted his stay - starting to make quick and rash decisions, believes he is bigger than the company that he runs and runs the place like a dictatorship, with no fear of retribution for his actions as he is never wrong.

Interesting take I tend to agree with - my instant thought was comparing Vlad to Bernie Ecclestone

If Matt's 35 years means squat so does Mifspud's work.

In any case, whatever good he has done has been completley eroded by his recent actions.
And to think AD said, in one of his press conferences that Mifspud is a future leader in the AFL.........GOD HELP US if this is the calible of people the AFL views as future leaders.
He is nothong more than a trouble maker and an antagonist.

Very wise observation, only a strong commission / board can pull him back into line or move him on.

Adrian Anderson has been very quiet in recent weeks.

What I hated most was when Sam said he was misitifed as to why Andy D didn't accept Mifsud's resignation and that he (Mifsud) needs to stand down immediately, Brayshaw sits back in his chair like he does and says "Well Sam, don't you think it has to do with his contribution to football? And that losing Mifsud would be a great loss to football?" Ummm so what is Rendell then? Chopped liver? Not only has Rendell contributed more to football but he is a much bigger loss than Mifsud ever will be.

Another interesting development this morning with a Melbourne Sponsor (Engergy Watch) found to have made racial slurs, some more specific than others. Interesting thing is that Vlad has come out very strong against them again, and has effectively inferred that Melbourne dump the sponsor.

The longer this goes on, the more I want Vlad gone. It's become a joke, the AFL is becoming a joke. Vlad and Mifsinformation have no credibility and the serious footy community don't believe a word they say. The problem is that most of the media are towing the party line and the Joe Average footy fan doesn't know anything else, so Vlad can keep fooling them.

Also interesting to note that Michelangelo Douchey is still reporting that Rendell used inappropriate racial stereotyping in his conversation with Mifsinformation. So he's basically defaming Rendell as a racist.

Andrew McLeod's support really makes me think that Mifsud just lacks understanding of his role. He might be doing a great job that we haven't seen. At minimum he is naive about media, more likely incompetent in dealing with media. He may not have had media relations training that surely would be required if his role is to be a public one.

I'm sure others could continue the good work of Mifsud, without the media debacle that has ensued. I agree that Mifsud's continued role is untenable, and that he will have lost the trust of the very people he is supposed to be an advocate for. At minimum a sideway move is required and someone more capable in dealing with media and a better understanding of cultural relations needs to take charge to restore confidence in that position.
