To be fair, if I were a club president I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole either.

I expected more from Barrett, he's real hit and miss.

Let's not forget that in the media, this really got bumped to number 2 when Jimmy Stynes passed away.

Barrett is hooked up with AFL media now, so he is basically Vlad's Minister for Propaganda.

I still struggle with the concept this was the perfect opportunity to 'have the difficult conversations' and 'educate the ignornat' and 'work together to resolve the problems'.

Scapegoating was an abysmall way to deal with this - and part of me is incredibly frustrated that its now starting to be acknowledged that Matty R was scapegoated.. and we still are not getting straight answers from misfud/Ali F and the decision to remove him is still being endorsed by many.

(the sentiment being that Triggy should have stood up for HIS people i.e. Matt and offered him a second chance and pushed for the AFL and Misfud to work through the issues with Matty. Geez what an opportunity missed and something the AFL could have really hung their hat on with trying to be truly welcoming to diversity and bashing down the obstacles to it)

No, I don't think Steven had a choice given that the story had gone public. I believe the blame lies squarely now with Mifsud and Fahour who are the ones who missed the opportunity to educate.

We all understand the negative connotations that word can have, but let me say this.

A full blooded Aboriginal from a remote community living and playing AFL in Melbourne - like Liam Jurrah - is surely an act of assimilation in itself.

The notion of assimilation can't be considered offensive if it is already occurring.

Unless we remove this cultural sensitivity, we will struggle to move forward.

Look, its quite possible Matt said some incredibly foul things in that private meeting. If so - I want to know and will certainly revise my view of the situation.

ANd Matty R - I don't 'trust' you either to just stop 'slagging the club'.

There's been too much lack of disclosure and strangeness about the whole situation.

Yeah having trouble getting my head around this, I find it offensive actually, perhaps racist. Dont see how any sane person can compare giving a VOLUNTRY opportunity to improve a persons chances of playing football, to the stolen generation.

I can now, sort of, understand how implying that the ultimate solution to an aboriginal problem is to introduce some whiteness can be construed as racist.

So take me through the bit where Misfud/Fahour were given any different choices to Triggy. Include any assumptions you feel are required. (I'm thinking of whatever assumptions you may have for the delay in coming forward).

The choice is there, if a person wants it to enhance their chances of playing afl football, they can take it, if not all good.

To say the two are the same or similar is a gross stereotype imo.
