One of my mates claimed the AFL were out to get Rendell away from the AFC as his recruiting was too good. I said that he was paranoid and that the suggestion was ridiculous. No doubt he will now point to this article and the fact that Rendell was the only person accused of making racist comments who was sacked rather than being offered mediation. And now the FL offer him a job. Really strange handling of this whole story.

Can't believe this would happen, but if it did, it would be a blatant excervise in damage control by the AFL (given the lengths they are going to to insist they had nothing to do with his resignation / sacking).

Well, we're now firming as the only party to actually lose in this situation.

We'll never know if we won or lost out of this, because we'll never know the consequences had we kept him on staff while this whole saga played out (ie the very reason why the club extracted itself from this situation in the first place).

Given the way the whole thing played out I cant see how anything bad would have happened at all.

One thing I found interesting and something for the conspiracy theorists, was when Gary Lyon on FC last evening read out a statement from the AFL and AD in particular that stated that both the organisation and Vlad himself had no part to play in Matts forced resignation.

While it didn’t state that it was as an apology from the network it sure sounded like one.

Astoundingly piss-poor. It was stated as truth, and none of the other 'journos' discussed it, was straight to a commercial break and it was like it never happened. I bet Vlad didn't force that either

It was no doubt because of Thomas' statements that AD is a liar and the inference that he influenced Caro in her reporting on the matter.

Muzzling at it's best. But FC probably needed to be better armed with facts and just stuck to them rather than Thomas just spout his opinions if they couldn't back them up - or weren't willing to when challenged.

Actually, they still got to say it then have that bizarre statement last night to 'cover themselves'. That's actually the best outcome from my point of view - the message is out.. Vlad is a liar (now we know?? )

Yeah - I've wondered exactly the same thing (I posted something to that effect a while back). May well have played a part with Rendell's willingness to resign and/or the Crows willingness to let him go so.

I know he wasn't what you would call an Adelaide Crows person. The person he rated higher than anyone at the Club was Alan Stewart. Rated him as the smartest person he had met in football. But I think he was a bit disillusioned by the fact that he was never asked for advice regarding anything on field. Rucking, clearances, opposition etc...

I think he was sick of being away from home for half the year not watching his own teenage lads playing. That was the major drain. It wasn't that he was finished with football. I think he was just so excited by this years draft prospects he wanted to see out this year and then maybe look at a different position at the club. But that is just my guess, nothing he has spoken of.

Must admit he never mentioned to me the offer from Port. Shows how highly he is rated for his coaching... Bet that would of ruffled some feathers at Alberton

Grant Thomas broke a story yesterday regarding a racial issue at the Melbourne football club. He reported that Mark Neeld had individual meetings with all of his white players but held meetings with indigenous players as a group.

Neeld on 'The Couch' last night strongly debunked this story and was genuinely hurt by the allegation. He was furious and wanted an investigation into the source of the rumour.

Thomas later on FC admitted that his story was incorrect.

The AFL held a press conference and confirmed that Thomas got his information from Mifsud.

The lying prick has been caught out this time.

Ironically he has been 'cautioned' by the AFL

I missed the first part of Footy Classified as the wife is insisting we finish rewatching season one of NtRabbits 'Game of Thrones' before launching into season 2. Bad judgement on my part.

I'm personally going to email Triggy again asking he go and have another chat to Mattie - with his revelation we have to really question the credibiltiy of how Misfud is conducting himself. Naturally that really throws a whole lot of greyness over the events of Mattie offending Misfud. We've already seen the AFL is backing away from labelling Mattie a racist - but more 'offensive'. Given they are ready to give him a job.. the club really should be the first to publically offer Matt his job back.

Will he take it? Dunno. Probably not a good idea in all honesty, depends on how they all feel towards each other and sounds like things were not peachy anyway. But the offer has to be made IMO.
