Think Masten had an exceptional season till he bit that crab and then got injured. The club just with the gut instinct of hoping that he returned to early season form but he didn't.

Well, we had to fit an automatic starter into our midfield.
This was a mistake. Got the sub round the wrong way. He would have helped absorb that early heat and had become a warrior. As disappointing as that result was, it is annoying when it is described as a "shocking" loss. We gave em too much early and when we threatened, we blew it and they snuffed it out but it was no 119 point soul destroyer a la Port 2007.

He’s a club life member and played a lot of good footy for the Eagles. He may well be a candidate for a ‘Forgotten Eagles’ thread in a few years time but the guy could play and the Suns got themselves a rock solid player and professional when he moved north.

One player who stuck around during the dark days and could have easily left to go back to Victoria.
I know he left in 2015 but i feel we pushed him in a way because we saw him more as a depth player which is fair enough.

Coaches aren't necessarily anything like how they used to play. Look at how Simmo was a player, and how he is now. Having a footy brain and a good capacity to build solid working relationships with others is much more important, and we know that Rosa has been revered by two clubs in this regard now.
I remember when Rosa shut down Judd in 2015, after quarter time with no prep. Bloke knew his footy

I don't think being a superstar = great coach
I wouldn't say Jayme Graham was all that great as a fwd but now hes a premiership assistant coach.
Van Berlo was a captain but that's about the top of his credentials.
We also recruited Bateman who besides the 08 premiership doesn't have the most decorated player career

Rosa was always attributed with having a great football brain. He certainly knew how to find the ball and was the best two way runner at the club in his time.
Great addition to the coaching staff.
