Was a bit miffed when he left, seemed he saw the writing on the wall...why was he overlooked at the end with Simpsons new brand? I think the Eagles were surprised he left?
Anyway, Welcome back Mr. Rosa!

Left after the Jetta trade and being made the sub in the GF. Probably thought he'd end up as depth here but be best 22 at Gold Coast.

Ill just assume the second 2 is a typo

Seems a random selection to be honest - has no experience and steps right in

Bateman has coaching experience and results wise - there has been some good development down at Perth

But not sure about Rosa to be honest - would prefer he had some actual experience

Although the coaching shtick of WC is we recruit young coaches and develop them along with the players.

Also is Chance our first indigenous coach?

He’s got to start somewhere, can’t just magically get coaching experience so where better to get it than at the club he spent most of his career?

the club has seemed to preference taking on players who aren't too long out of the game over the previous years, compared to taking an older experienced coaches who haven't played the modern game

Van Berlo and Mitchell are both relatively inexperienced, as is Petrie, but all are familiar with modern footy

So were you against the acquisition of Sam Mitchell?

Sam Mitchell had the benefit at least of a years experience whilst also playing - and he comes with a history of onfield leadership and a reputation that commands respect

But fundamentally - the majority of players should get lower league experience IMO

There will always be exceptions - Adam Simpson as an example seemed to have 4 years experience whilst still playing

Rosa doesn’t strike me as that sort

Happy to be wrong and trust the club has undergone due diligence - but just seems strange

Glad to have Rosa back (unexpected actually given his roots). Always seemed a diligent, switched on fella, occasionally let down by his body, I have faith in his coaching adaptability.

Posters are right to scrutinise the seeming premature appointment, but I'd guess that Simmo is good at sussing out future coaching heads.

Scooter leaving was kind of on the cards, but Rosa leaving was probably the most disappointing since Ebert, if not Judd (even if different points in career). At the same time, his rationale was entirely understandable, and probably allowed him to get more game-time in the end. I often felt in lesser Eagles years that if he could put 22 games together he was a B&F contender. Consistently good when he found continuity.
