Know I’m late to the party, but to add to answers already given:
1. Possibly, but the difficulty is bids needed to matched on others players (e.g. Annable) to remove picks in the teens as well to bring the pick where the Murray and Addinsall bids landed where in.
2. Not so much Hawks taking Lindsay, but if West Coast had any shot at Murray or Addinsall it had to be as early as possible. Which didn’t work obviously. But Hawks were keen to trade back. So Eagles traded up to secure the pick and the player they wanted as opposed to waiting one pick and maybe seeing another team jump in and grab the player they wanted (Murray or Addinsall if bids weren’t matched, Lindsay if they were).
Additionally, that’s kind of the price it takes. Essendon gave up a second round pick to switch picks with Geelong to get Nate Caddy.
3. I’d say it’s similar to us with Kellaway. Simply valued higher players on the board than Banfield and Evans. Which to be fair, most would have Allen and Williams ahead of both.The eagles had already committed to Finn McCray, Devon Robertson and Harry Schoenberg before the draft so don’t think the expectation was that Banfield nor Evans would get through the rookie draft.
