We can now get rid of the slow ball movement out of defence, and the short passing. Perhaps it was Scarlett's idea to reduce turnovers so the defence wasn't under pressure and his results looked better.

It's felt like over recent years as we've gone through the retirements of Enright, then Mackie, Lonergan and last year Taylor, that we've almost brought in more defensive minded players to the 22 & slowed things down to seemingly cover for what Scarlett may perceive as deficiencies

We are so structured down back that when we can play to that structure it works well, but when we can't set up as we want, we look lost defensively

We need to remember that Scarlett is the guy who in a radio interview spoke about the need to defend with ball in hand - that's not a very encouraging thing to hear
