As a coach knights was potentially 10-15 years ahead of his time.

Essendon being the ****wits they are couldn't see it and let the likes of Lloyd, Lucas and Mcveigh dictate the clubs direction. Look at them now

You could tell almost immediately it wouldn't work out. The supporters never warmed to him and I think the club always saw him as the guy to fill the gap before they parachuted Hird into the job. This despite the same attitude initially towards Sheedy, another hated Tiger. I doubt the supplements saga would have happened under Knights.
The only thing I couldn't get my head around was his reluctance to play Houli when he was in charge of the Bombers. Maybe he was playing 4d Tigers chess?
